In many countries, a mayor is the highest-ranking official in a municipal government such as that of a city or a town. Worldwide, there is a wide variance in local laws and customs regarding the powers and responsibilities of a mayor as well as the means by which a mayor is elected or otherwise mandated. Depending on the system chosen, a mayor may be the chief executive officer of the municipal government, may simply chair a multi-member governing body with little or no independent power, or may play a solely ceremonial role. Stefan Roth (born March 13, 1977, in Mainz, Germany) is a German computer scientist, professor of computer science and dean of the department of computer science of the Technische Universität Darmstadt. He heads the Visual Inference Lab. He is known for his research on computer vision and machine learning techniques in computer vision. His research focuses on recognition and tracking of people and objects, scene understanding, statistical image modeling and processing and motion modeling and prediction. Life Roth studied computer science and engineering at the University of Mannheim, obtaining his diplom in 2001. The title of his thesis was "Analysis of a Deterministic Annealing Method for Graph Matching and Quadratic Assignment Problems in Computer Vision". He then studied computer science at Brown University, where he received his Master's degree. In 2007, he received his PhD in computer science under Michael Julian Black from the same institution. Urs (from ''‘Urs'') or ''Urus'' (literal meaning wedding), is the death anniversary of a Sufi saint, usually held at the saint's dargah (shrine or tomb). In most Sufi orders such as Naqshbandiyyah, Suhrawardiyya, Chishtiyya, Qadiriyya, etc. the concept of Urs exists and is celebrated with enthusiasm. The devotees refer to their saints as lovers of God, the beloved. Urs rituals are generally performed by the custodians of the shrine or the existing Shaikh of the silsila. The celebration of Urs ranges from Hamd to Naat and in many cases includes the singing of religious music such as qawwali. The celebration also features food samples, bazaar, and various kinds of shops. The Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti at Dargah Sharif in Ajmer attracts more than 400,000 devotees each year and is regarded as one of the most famous urs festivals around the world. ''Empire Alderney'' was a 288-ton coastal tanker which was built in 1943. She was renamed ''Mil 50'' in 1946 and ''Max S'' in 1955. Her fate is unknown, last being registered in the Cayman Islands in 1980. History ''Empire Alderney'' was built by J. Harker Ltd., Knottingley as yard number 166. She had a Crossley engine. ''Empire Alderney'' was launched on 11 December 1943 and completed in June 1944. She was built for the Ministry of War Transport and managed by T J Metcalf.
