Mayor Of Basel
This is a list of presidents of the Executive Council of the canton of Basel-Stadt. The canton of Basel-Stadt and city of Basel are government by a seven-member executive council (''Regierungsrat''). The executive council is chaired by its president (''Regierungspräsident''). The function used to rotate annually among the members, but has become a permanent role in 2009. The city of Basel doesn't have a government of its own or a mayor. Ralph Lewin
Ralph Lewin (born May 21, 1953) is a Swiss politician and the former president of the Cantonal Executive of the Canton of Basel-City since 2004. Since 2009, Lewin served on the board of directors for Cantonal. He is a member of the Social Democratic Party of Switzerland. Career Lewin graduated from the University of Basel in 1977 with a degree in Sociology and Macroeconomics. In 1984 Lewin began a two-year run as a member of the Swiss delegation to the OECD in Paris. Lewin was the Governing Councilor and Chairman of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of Basel-City Canton from 1997 to 2009. Eva Herzog (born 25 December 1962) is a Swiss politician who has represented Basel-Stadt in the Council of States since 2019. She is a member of the Social Democratic Party (SP/PS). Christoph Eymann (born 15 January 1951) is a Swiss attorney and former politician who served two terms on the Swiss National Council for the Liberal-Democratic Party from 1991 to 2001 and from 2015 to 2021.
