Maya Kulenovic
Maya Kulenovic is a Canadian artist and painter. She lives and works in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and exhibits internationally. Biography Kulenovic was born in 1975 in Sarajevo, SR Bosnia and Herzegovina, SFR Yugoslavia. She studied at Ontario College of Art and Design University in Toronto, Ontario, Canada; Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul, Turkey; and Chelsea College of Art and Design ( University of the Arts London) in London, England. She is also an alumna of Goodenough College in London, England. A book about the work of Maya Kulenovic by Edward Lucie-Smith in Dutch and English was published by d'jonge Hond in the Netherlands in 2007. Her second monograph, ''Maya Kulenovic: Fugue'', with an essay by Mark Kingwell, was published in Toronto in 2017. Francis Bacon (28 October 1909 – 28 April 1992) was an Irish-born British figurative painter known for his raw, unsettling imagery. Focusing on the human form, his subjects included Crucifixion of Jesus, crucifixions, portraits of popes, self-portraits, and portraits of close friends, with abstracted figures sometimes isolated in geometrical structures. William Turner (artist)
William Turner (29 November 1789 – 7 August 1862) was an English painter who specialised in watercolour landscapes. He is often known as William Turner of Oxford or just Turner of Oxford to distinguish him from his contemporary, J. M. W. Turner (known as William). Many of Turner's paintings depicted the countryside around Oxford. One of his best known pictures is a view of the city of Oxford from Hinksey Hill. In 1898, the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford held a retrospective exhibition of his work. Some of his paintings are still on permanent display at the museum. In 1984, the Oxfordshire County Council presented his work in an exhibition at the Oxfordshire County Museum in Woodstock. Eugène Atget (; 12 February 1857 – 4 August 1927) was a French ''flâneur'' and a pioneer of documentary photography, noted for his determination to document all of the architecture and street scenes of Paris before their disappearance to modernization. Mark Gerald Kingwell (born March 1, 1963) is a Canadian professor of philosophy and associate chair at the University of Toronto's Department of Philosophy. Kingwell is a fellow of Trinity College. He specialises in theories of politics and culture. Kingwell has published twenty books, most notably, ''A Civil Tongue: Justice, Dialogue, and the Politics of Pluralism,'' which was awarded the Spitz Prize for political theory in 1997.
