Maya Caldwell
Maya Caldwell (born December 15, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for the Indiana Fever of the Women's National Basketball Association, Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). She played college basketball at Georgia Bulldogs women's basketball, Georgia. College career Caldwell came out of high school as the 76th overall ranked recruit according to the ESPN HoopGurlz Rankings. Caldwell committed to Georgia to play collegiately. She stated that part of the reason for choosing the Bulldogs program was that "Athens just felt like home...If I didn't have basketball, where would I want to be?' Athens was the place." Caldwell played in all 33 games as a freshman and led the team in 3-point field goal percentage. She scored a season high 20 points against Howard on December 19, 2017. Women's National Basketball Association
The Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) is an American professional basketball league. It is composed of twelve teams, all based in the United States. The league was founded on April 22, 1996, as the women's counterpart to the National Basketball Association (NBA), and league play started in 1997. The regular season is played from May to September, with the All Star game being played midway through the season in July (except in Olympic years) and the WNBA Finals at the end of September until the beginning of October. Five WNBA teams have direct NBA counterparts and normally play in the same arena. They play in the same arena as funding is sparse due to lack of spectators. 2023 Indiana Fever Season
The 2023 Indiana Fever season was the franchise's 24th season in the Women's National Basketball Association, and their first season under new head coach Christie Sides. The Fever named Sides their new head coach on November 4, 2022. She previously spent two seasons in Indiana as an assistant coach from 2018 to 2019. The Fever won the 2023 WNBA Draft Lottery and were awarded the first overall pick for the first time in franchise history. The Fever started the season slowly going 1–3 in May, with their one win coming against Atlanta. The Fever showed improvement in June, finishing the season 4–7. However, they won four of six games in the middle of the month and took Chicago to overtime. The 2023 WNBA season is the 27th season of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The Las Vegas Aces are the defending champions. The regular season was expanded to 40 games per team, becoming the most games scheduled in a single WNBA season. The 2022 WNBA season was be the 15th season for the Atlanta Dream of the Women's National Basketball Association. The team began the season on May 14, 2022, on the road against the Dallas Wings. This was be the first season for new head coach Tanisha Wright. Wright was hired on October 12, 2021. Dan Padover was hired as the team's new General Manager, while Darius Taylor moved into the Assistant General Manager role - after serving as the team's interim head coach in the 2021 season. The season stated well for Wright and the Dream, as they finished May 5–3. However, a stronger schedule in June slowed down their momentum as they finished the month 4–8, including a four game and three game losing streak. The WNBA's second Commissioner's Cup took place during the regular season, with the Las Vegas Aces winning over the Sky.
