Mauro Cichero (footballer, Born 1951)
Luigi Mauro Cichero (16 October 1951 – 20 January 2019) was a footballer who played as a central defender. Born in Italy, he represented Venezuela internationally. He competed in the men's tournament at the 1980 Summer Olympics. Early life Cichero was born in Genoa, Italy and spent his early life there until he was 14, when his family moved to Venezuela. Playing career Cichero played professionally in Venezuela for Deportivo Italia, Unión Deportiva Canarias, and ULA Mérida during the 1970s. He made a name for himself in Venezuela thanks to his skill, resulting in the opportunity to go to Italy and went on trial with AC Milan. While he did not make the team, he ended up moving to Serie B club Grosseto. He also represented the Venezuela national team. Mauro Cichero is a Venezuelan professional footballer who plays for Forward Madison in USL League One. Early life Cichero was born in Venezuela and grew up in Norman, Oklahoma from preschool age until third grade, where his father worked as a soccer coach. He then moved to Spain, where he played at soccer academies in Valencia, before returning to the United States in 2011, following his mother's death. He attended Norman North High School and in 2013, he was named as the Oklahoman All-City Player of the Year. He was named the Gatorade Oklahoma Boys Soccer Player of the Year in 2013 and 2014. In 2014, he scored a bicycle kick goal to give his high school a double overtime victory, with video of the goal going viral. Gabriel Alejandro Cichero Konarek (born 25 April 1984) is a Venezuelan former professional who played as a centre-back or left back. Personal life He is the son of Mauro Cichero who was a professional football player and represented Venezuela in the 1980 Olympics. His brothers, Alejandro and Mauro, are also professional football players. Club career Cichero began his professional career with Uruguayan Primera División side Montevideo Wanderers, appearing in 35 matches and scoring 1 goal. During January 2006 transfer window he was loaned to Serie A side U.S. Lecce for the remainder of the season. He then returned to Uruguay and in 2007 was transferred to Vihren Sandanski, in the Bulgarian championship.
