Maurizio Felugo
Maurizio Felugo (born 4 March 1981) is an Italian male water polo player. He was a member of the Italy men's national water polo team, playing as a driver. Biography Born at Rapallo, he currently plays for Pro Recco and the Italian water polo national team as a defender. Felugo debuted in the youth team of Chiavari Nuoto, and in 1998 he was acquired by Rari Nantes Savona. During his stay there, he received his first cap with the Italian national team. Moving to Posillipo after five years, he won there the Italian top division title and a LEN Euroleague. He is 1.89m and weighs 82 kg. In 2006 he moved to Pro Recco. He won the gold medal at the 2011 FINA World Aquatics Championships in Shanghai. He was part of the Italian team that won the silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Water Polo
Water polo is a competitive team sport played in water between two teams of seven players each. The game consists of four quarters in which the teams attempt to score goals by throwing the ball into the opposing team's goal. The team with the most goals at the end of the game wins the match. Each team is made up of six field players and one goalkeeper. Excluding the goalkeeper, players participate in both offensive and defensive roles. It is typically played in an all-deep pool where players cannot touch the bottom. A game consists mainly of the players swimming to move about the pool, treading water (mainly using the eggbeater kick), passing the ball, and shooting at the goal. Teamwork, tactical thinking and awareness are also highly important aspects. Water polo is a highly physical and demanding sport and has frequently been cited as one of the most difficult to play. A.S.D. Pro Recco (Official name: Associazione Sportiva Dilettantistica Pro Recco) is an Italian water polo club from Recco, in Liguria. It currently plays in Serie A1. Pro Recco is the most successful club in men's water polo. In men's domestic water polo, the club has won a record 50 trophies: a record 34 Serie A1 titles, a record 16 Coppa Italia. 2011 FINA World Aquatics Championships
The 14th FINA World Championships () were held on 16–31 July 2011 in Shanghai, China at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center. The 2011 World Championships featured five aquatics disciplines: swimming, water polo, diving, open water, and synchronized swimming. LEN Euroleague
The LEN Champions League is the top-tier European professional water polo club competition with teams from up to 18 countries. It is organized by the Ligue Européenne de Natation. The competition started in 1963 as European Cup. A change of name and format occurred in 1996, with the competition being renamed Champions League and the final four system being established as the format of choice, for the first time during the 1996–97 LEN Champions League. From 2003 to 2011 the competition was named LEN Euroleague (with the change of name being simply a re-branding) and from 2011 and on LEN Champions League, its current name.
