Storting
The Storting ( no, Stortinget ) (lit. the Great Thing) is the supreme legislature of Norway, established in 1814 by the Constitution of Norway. It is located in Oslo. The unicameral parliament has 169 members and is elected every four years based on party-list proportional representation in nineteen multi-seat constituencies. Volda is a municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is part of the Sunnmøre region. The administrative centre is the village of Volda. Rasmus Sivertsen Aarflot (January 17, 1792 – January 19, 1845) was a Norwegian ''lensmann'', editor, and member of the Storting. Rasmus Aarflot was the son of the ''lensmann'' and community educator Sivert Aarflot, and the brother of the writer Berte Canutte Aarflot. He was the first postmaster in Volda, and starting in 1816 its ''lensmann''. Rasmus Aarflot took over his father's print shop and published various periodicals to promote community education (e.g., '' Norsk Landboeblad''). Johan Sverdrup (30 July 1816 – 17 February 1892) was a Norwegian politician from the Liberal Party. He was the first prime minister of Norway after the introduction of parliamentarism and served as the 4th prime minister of Norway. Sverdrup was prime minister from 1884 to 1889. Odelsrett
The Odelsrett is an ancient Scandinavian allodial title which has survived in Norway as ''odelsrett'' and existed until recent times in Sweden as ''bördsrätt''. The Norwegian law stipulates the right, when a farm is to be sold, of any member of the family, by the principle of primogeniture, to buy it, consistent with ''Åsetesrett.'' If the property is sold to a stranger, family members have the right within a specified period of time (which varies over history, but ten years can be considered typical of recent usage) to redeem it at the price paid, with the additional cost of the improvements. If there is controversy, appraisers are appointed. Later law modified this, so that an owner selling his farm may determine whether he renounces for himself and heirs this right.
