Maurice Mitchell
Maurice Mitchell (born December 22, 1989) is an American track and field sprinter who specializes in the 200-meter dash. He has a personal record of 20.13 seconds in that event and has bests of 6.55 seconds for the 60-meter dash and 10 seconds for the 100-meter dash. He represented the United States in the relay at the 2011 World Championships and was selected to compete at the 2012 London Olympics. While competing for Florida State University he won three NCAA Outdoor Championship titles, taking 200 m titles in 2011 and 2012 as well as a relay title in 2011. He also won 13 Atlantic Coast Conference titles and was chosen as the ACC Outdoor Performer of the Year three years running. A relay race is a racing competition where members of a team take turns completing parts of racecourse or performing a certain action. Relay races take the form of professional races and amateur games. Relay races are common in running, orienteering, swimming, cross-country skiing, biathlon, or ice skating (usually with a baton in the fist). Miramar, Florida
Miramar is a city in southern Broward County, Florida, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 134,721. It is a principal city of the Miami metropolitan area, which is home to approximately six million people. History Miramar was founded by A.L. Mailman to serve as a "bedroom community" for nearby Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Mailman bought the original property he was to develop from H.D. Perry, Sr. in 1953. He built 56 homes on the property that were inexpensive homes of concrete and flat roofs. These homes sold quickly because of the low cost of both the homes and the land, and the city of Miramar came into being. All-America
The All-America designation is an annual honor bestowed upon an amateur sports person from the United States who is considered to be one of the best amateurs in their sport. Individuals receiving this distinction are typically added to an All-America team for their sport. Some sports will have multiple All-America teams and will list the honorees as members of a first team, second team, or third team. As such, All-America teams are composed of outstanding US amateur players. Individuals falling short of qualifying for the honor may receive All-America honorable mention. The designation is typically used at the collegiate level although, beginning in 1957, high school- athletes in football began being honored with All-America status, which then carried-over to other sports like basketball and cross-country running. As Raytown became less of a "destination-suburb" in the 1990s, the enrollment fell drastically.
