Maurice Bramley
Maurice Bramley (11 September 1898 – 15 June 1975), was a New Zealand born Australian cartoonist and commercial artist. Biography Maurice William Bramley was born in New Plymouth, New Zealand, on 11 September 1898, the eldest son of William Bramley. He migrated to Australia in the mid-1920s, settling in Sydney. Bramley came to prominence as a commercial artist/illustrator during the 1930s, working principally for Sun Newspapers (later Associated Newspapers) magazines such as ''The World's News'' and ''Woman and Woman's Budget'', before commencing his long association with the Transport Publishing Company (later Horwitz Publications) during the mid-1940s. John Ryan, in his Australian Comic anthology, ''Panel by Panel'', describes Bramley as a "meticulous draftsman, whose detailed pen work and realistic drawings were a cut above many of the illustrators in the field." John Dixon (cartoonist)
John Dixon (20 February 1929 - 7 May 2015) was an Australian comic book artist and writer, best known for his comic strip creation, '' Air Hawk and the Flying Doctors'' (which ran from 1959 until 1986). Biography John Dangar Dixon was born in Newcastle on 20 February 1929, the son of a school principal. After completing his education at Cook Hill Intermediate High he became a trainee window dresser at a softgoods company. He then became interested in art and obtained a position as an advertising agent with the same company. Dixon moved to Sydney in 1945. After doing various advertising jobs, Dixon was advised to turn to the comics profession. He heeded the advice and wrote and drew his first comic book story, called ''The Sky Pirates'', and showed it to Sydney publisher Henry John Edwards. Australian Capital Territory
The Australian Capital Territory (commonly abbreviated as ACT), known as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) until 1938, is a landlocked federal territory of Australia containing the national capital Canberra and some surrounding townships. It is located in southeastern Australian mainland as an enclave completely within the state of New South Wales. Founded after Federation as the seat of government for the new nation, the territory hosts the headquarters of all important institutions of the Australian Government. On 1 January 1901, federation of the colonies of Australia was achieved. Section 125 of the new Australian Constitution provided that land, situated in New South Wales and at least from Sydney, would be ceded to the new federal government. Tuross Head, New South Wales
Tuross Head is a seaside village on the south coast of New South Wales, Australia. It is approximately halfway between the townships of Moruya and Narooma, a few kilometres off the Princes Highway. As of the 2016 census, Tuross Head has a population of 2,241 people. This quiet seaside community is located on a headland that juts out into the Tasman Sea with Coila Lake to the north and Tuross Lake and Tuross River to the south making the headland virtually surrounded by water and joined to the mainland by a thin isthmus. Phil Belbin
''Phil Belbin'' (1925–1993) was an Australian artist, illustrator, cartoonist and amateur cinematographer. He is probably best known for creating what soon became known as the "Candy" multi-colour livery for the State Rail Authority in the 1980s. He is still regarded as one of Australia's leading steam enthusiasts, and had an extensive personal collection of several small steam locos; loco name plates; builder's plates and other railway memorabilia. His legacy lives on through his extensive film collection which he took in the final two decades of NSWGR steam. Moira Bertram (1929 – ?), was an Australian comic book artist and illustrator. Biography Moira Bertram was born in Sydney in 1929, the daughter of a Sydney wool shipper. She studied portrait painting under the noted Australian painter Antonio Dattilo Rubbo (1870–1955) during which time she also began writing and drawing comic books for her own amusement.
