Matthew Lopez is an American playwright and screenwriter. His play '' The Inheritance'', directed by Stephen Daldry, premiered at London's Young Vic in 2018, where it was called "the most important American play of the century." The Obie Awards or Off-Broadway Theater Awards are annual awards originally given by ''The Village Voice'' newspaper to theatre artists and groups in New York City. In September 2014, the awards were jointly presented and administered with the American Theatre Wing.
