Matt Tyner
Matthew A. Tyner is an American baseball coach and former outfielder and third baseman, who is the current head baseball coach of the Towson Tigers. He played college baseball at the University of Miami for coach Ron Fraser from 1977 to 1980 and played in Minor League Baseball (MiLB) for 4 seasons from 1980 to 1983. He served as the head coach of the Bellarmine Knights (2012–2013). Playing career Tyner attended the University of Miami, to play college baseball for the Miami Hurricanes baseball team. Tyner helped the Hurricanes to 3 consecutive berths in the College World Series from 1978 to 1980. He was drafted in the 9th round of the 1980 Major League Baseball draft by the Baltimore Orioles. Tyner played three seasons in the Orioles system before a series of elbow injuries forced him to retire. Coaching career Tyner became a coach with the Butler Bulldogs baseball program in 1993. Towson Tigers Baseball
The Towson Tigers, formerly the ''Towson College Knights'', are the athletics teams of Towson University. All of the major athletic teams compete in the Colonial Athletic Association with 19 Division I athletic teams (13 in women's sports, 6 in men's sports). Gymnastics competes in the EAGL conference, having rejoined the league in the Spring of 2012. Since joining the CAA in 2001–02, the Tigers have won 16 league championships; the Tigers have won titles in football, baseball, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, men's soccer, men's golf, women's swimming and diving, and volleyball. Ron Fraser
Ronald George Fraser (June 25, 1933 – January 20, 2013) was the college baseball coach at the University of Miami from 1963 to 1992. Nicknamed the "Wizard of College Baseball," he was one of the most successful coaches in NCAA baseball history and was also responsible for bringing college baseball to a new level of public awareness. The Miami Hurricanes baseball team went from being on the brink of being "contracted" to being the toast of college baseball under Fraser's tenure. 2021 Colonial Athletic Association Baseball Tournament
The 2021 Colonial Athletic Association Baseball Tournament was held at Brooks Field in Wilmington, North Carolina from May 25 through May 30. The Northeastern Huskies won the tournament, their first CAA victory, and earned the Colonial Athletic Association's automatic bid to the 2021 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament. Entering the event, two-time defending champion UNC Wilmington had won the most championships among active teams, with six. James Madison and William & Mary had claimed two titles, while College of Charleston, Delaware, and Towson each had one. The 2021 NCAA Division I baseball season play of college baseball in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level, began on February 19, 2021. The season progressed through the regular season, many conference tournaments and championship series, and concluded with the 2021 NCAA Division I baseball tournament and 2021 College World Series. The College World Series, consisting of the eight remaining teams in the NCAA tournament and held annually in Omaha, Nebraska, at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha, ended on June 30, 2021. The Mississippi State Bulldogs won the tournament, and were consequently named national champions. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the start of the season was delayed one week, and some teams opted out of playing at all for the 2021 season. The 2011 Great West Conference baseball tournament took place from May 24 through 28. All eight of the league's teams met in the double-elimination tournament to be held at University of North Dakota's Harold Kraft Memorial Field in Grand Forks, ND. The Bellarmine Knights are the athletic teams that represent Bellarmine University, located in Louisville, Kentucky, in intercollegiate sports as a member of the NCAA Division I ranks, primarily competing in the ASUN Conference for most sports since the 2020–21 academic year.
