Matt Simpson (New York Politician)
Matt Simpson is an American politician. A Republican, he is currently serving in the New York State Assembly, representing the 114th district, which encompasses all of Essex and Warren counties, and portions of Saratoga and Washington counties. He assumed office on January 6, 2021. Early life, education, and career Simpson grew up in Bolton, New York. His father was a teacher and his mother was a nurse at Glens Falls Hospital. He graduated from Hoosic Valley High School in 1985, and started his own dry wall company, working as a business owner for more than 30 years. Political career Simpson served on the Horicon, New York Town Board for two years before being running unopposed and being elected supervisor of the town. He also served as president of the Adirondack Association of Towns and Villages. Daniel George Stec (born February 21, 1969) is an American politician serving as a member of the New York State Senate for the 45th district. He represents all of Clinton, Essex, Franklin, and Warren Counties, and parts of St. Lawrence County and Washington County. He previously represented the 114th district of the New York State Assembly. Early life and career Stec was born to George, a Vietnam War veteran and New York State Forest Ranger, and Elsie, a school secretary. He was raised in Queensbury, New York and graduated from Queensbury High School in 1987. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York. Serve America Movement
The Serve America Movement (SAM) was a big tent political organization founded in 2017 by Morgan Stanley lawyer Eric Grossman. The party achieved its first state party in New York with ballot access, but as of November 4, 2021 it lost its ballot status. Under current New York election law, parties have to get over 130,000 votes every two years to maintain ballot access. The party has stated that they intend to surpass the elections vote limit or use petitions to gain access in other states, in order to contest future elections.
