Mats Lindfors
Talisman was a Swedish hard rock band. Founded in 1989 by the songwriting bassist Marcel Jacob and fronted by the American singer Jeff Scott Soto, the band released seven studio albums from 1990 to 2006, before going on a farewell tour in 2007. While mainly described as hard rock and heavy metal, the band's sound had also been influenced by a variety of genres outside the rock music scope, such as rhythm and blues, soul, and funk in particular. After Marcel Jacob died in 2009, Talisman has reunited three times for one-off festival shows held in 2014, 2016, and 2017 with Johan Niemann filling in on bass. In 2019, to mark a ten-year anniversary of Marcel Jacob's passing, Talisman reunited once again to record and release a commemorative song "Never Die". Johan Wilhelm Niemann (born 26 June 1977) is a Swedish musician best known as the current bassist of Evergrey and for co-founding the band Mind's Eye. Humanimal (album)
''Humanimal'' is the third studio album by hard rock band Talisman released on 25 May 1994 (Part 1) and 19 October 1994 (Part 2) on Polydor Records. The recordings took place in Sound Trade Studios with the help of Ronny Lahti. The final album, recorded and mixed in 22 days, was 22 tracks. This led to JSS & MJ discussing a double CD, but since almost all the material would fit on one CD, they finally opted for a single CD with all the best tracks. The Japanese label was given the permission to put together their own selection of the track they deemed suitable for the Japanese audience. The band were somewhat unhappy with the list of songs on the Japanese version, and eventually the Japanese label released the Swedish version as well, because of the amount of imports. Treat (band)
Treat is a Swedish rock band from Stockholm. Formed in 1981 by singer Robert Ernlund and guitarist , the band had national and as well as international success with songs like "Get You on the Run", "World of Promises", "Party All Over" and "Ready for the Taking" in the second half of the 1980s. They played at rock festivals like Monsters of Rock in 1988 in Germany. They were also the opening act for Queen in Sweden in 1986 and opened for W.A.S.P. during their first Swedish tour. They were signed to the labels Mercury and then Vertigo . The band originally disbanded in 1993 due to failing to maintain success with new singer Mats Levén; however, former band members worked later together on two new songs for the 2006 compilation album ''Weapons of choice 1984-2006''; the album sold better than expected, convincing them that the band was still relevant. Axel Rudi Pell
Axel Rudi Pell (born 27 June 1960) is a German heavy metal guitarist. Career Pell commenced his musical career with Steeler (1984–88) before leaving in 1988 for a solo career. During this time, he has played with such drummers as Jörg Michael and Mike Terrana, and singers Charlie Huhn, Johnny Gioeli of Hardline, Jeff Scott Soto, and Rob Rock. Gioeli remains the longest surviving vocalist of the band, having joined the group since 1998 on the album ''Oceans of Time'', Gioeli's first musical appearance since the 1992 Hardline album ''Double Eclipse''. Pell often says his music is about a Knight in shining armour going on various adventures. Each album continues one new quest after the other, and songs are told as separate stories. William Michael Albert Broad (born 30 November 1955), known professionally as Billy Idol, is a British-American singer, songwriter, and musician. He first achieved fame in the 1970s emerging from the London punk rock scene as the lead singer of the group Generation X. Subsequently, he embarked on a solo career which led to international recognition and made Idol a lead artist during the MTV-driven "Second British Invasion" in the United States. The name "Billy Idol" was inspired by a schoolteacher's description of him as "idle". Idol began his music career in late 1976 as a guitarist in the punk rock band Chelsea. Genesis (Talisman Album)
''Genesis'' was the second studio album by hard rock band Talisman released on 7 July 1993 on Dino Records. Drummer Jake Samuels had left them to join Zinny J. Zan's band and then Marcel Jacob made all programmed drums used on the recording with an Alesis SR-16. The album was recorded and mixed in three weeks in December 1992 at Stocksund Recording Studios. The band had a little help from Mats Lindfors (who later did the mixing) with engineering, and then Marcel Jacob recorded himself and Fredrik Åkesson. Soto joined recording along with his then-girlfriend Julie Greaux (Billy Idol, Axel Rudi Pell) who ended up playing the grand piano on "All I Want". When the album was released, the single "Mysterious" got some airplay, the album immediately sold some 15,000+ copies in Sweden. Fredrik Åkesson
Karl Fredrik Henrik Åkesson is a Swedish heavy metal guitarist. He is a current member of Opeth and is also active in Krux, Monsters of Metal, and Talisman. Biography Åkesson has been playing guitar since the age of 12. His early musical influences include Michael Schenker, Uli Jon Roth, Yngwie Malmsteen, John Norum and George Lynch. Marcel Jacob, founder of Talisman, held auditions in 1992 to find a new guitar player after Jason Bieler left them to play with Saigon Kick; the 19-year-old Åkesson was selected for the position. He spent almost four years with Talisman and after five records decided to leave them for a heavier outfit. Thomas Vikström
Sven Erik Herman Thomas Vikström (born 21 January 1969) is a Swedish singer best known for working with hard rock and heavy metal bands including doom metal bands Candlemass (during their initial final years, from 1991 to 1994) and power metallers Stormwind. He is the son of opera singer Sven-Erik Vikström. He is also a permanent vocalist for the symphonic metal band Therion. Jason Bieler
Jason Bieler (also often known simply as "Jason") is a singer, guitarist and songwriter who is most famous for playing with metal band Saigon Kick. He has also played in other bands, including an early touring version of Talisman and Super TransAtlantic, which also featured several other Saigon Kick members and Extreme bassist Pat Badger.
