Matia Mahal Assembly constituency is one of the seventy Delhi assembly constituencies of Delhi in northern India. Matia Mahal assembly constituency is a part of Chandni Chowk (Lok Sabha constituency). Electoral history The constituency was created in 1993 after abolition of Metropolitan Council. Since then, it has been represented by Shoaib Iqbal who contested the seats 7 times from different parties. However, during 2015 Delhi Legislative Assembly election, he contested from Indian National Congress and lost to Asim Ahmed Khan by a huge margin. Shoaib Iqbal
Shoaib Iqbal (born 1 May 1958) is an Indian politician and a member of Delhi Legislative Assembly. He is 6 times MLA from Matia Mahal (Vidhan Sabha constituency). Political career Shoaib Iqbal was active in student politics during his college days, and was the Secretary at the "Zakir Husain Students Union". Shoaib Iqbal has earned a reputation in early days by harassing poor people and demanding money from them to carry out construction activities. 1993 Delhi Legislative Assembly Election
Legislative Assembly elections were held in Delhi in 1993. The result was a victory for the Bhartiya Janata Party, which won 49 of the 70 seats in the Assembly. 2013 Delhi Legislative Assembly Election
The Delhi Legislative Assembly election was held on 4 December 2013, with the result announced on 8 December resulting in formation of the Fifth Legislative Assembly of Delhi. The Aam Aadmi Party (; AAP) is a political party in India, as one of the national political parties. The AAP was founded in November 2012 by Arvind Kejriwal and his then-companions following the 2011 Indian anti-corruption movement, popularly known as Anna Andolan.
