Asim Ahmed Khan is an Indian politician (Delhi State), who was the minister of Food and Civil Supply, Environment and Forest, Minority Affairs and Election in the Delhi government. He is a member of the Aam Aadmi Party and represented Matia Mahal (Assembly constituency) in the Sixth Legislative Assembly of Delhi. Early life and education Asim Ahmed Khan was born in Delhi. He attended the Chaudhary Charan Singh University and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. Politics Asim Ahmed Khan is a member of the minority wing of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He contested the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections in 2012 and received 6,300 votes. The Delhi Legislative Assembly election was held on 7 February 2015 to elect 70 members of the Sixth Legislative Assembly of Delhi. The results were announced on 10 February 2015. The Aam Aadmi Party secured an absolute majority in the assembly, winning 67 of the 70 seats. Background In the 2013 Delhi state elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (along with its pre-poll ally Shiromani Akali Dal) emerged as the single-largest party, winning 32 out of the 70 seats. A Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) is a representative elected by the voters of an electoral district (constituency) to the legislature of State government in the Indian system of government. From each constituency, the people elect one representative who then becomes a member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA).
