Thomas Mathiesen
Thomas Mathiesen (5 October 1933 – 29 May 2021) was a Norwegian sociologist. Haagen Mathiesen
Haagen Mathiesen (26 October 1759 – 12 October 1842) was a Norwegian timber merchant, ship-owner and politician. Background He was born in Christiania (now Oslo), Norway. He was the son of timber merchant and judge Jørgen Mathiesen (1725–1764) and his wife Karen Haagensdatter Nielsen (1735–1766). He was the brother of Henriette Mathiesen. He came from a wealthy background, but lost his parents early. He graduated from Christiania Cathedral School in 1776 and then from the University of Copenhagen in 1780 with the cand.jur. degree. Career His first business venture, a dry goods store in Moss, failed. In March 1790 he married Beate Monsen (1766–1823), a daughter of Mogens Larsen Monsen. He soon involved himself in the Monsen family business, as a timber merchant and ship-owner, and bought the share of his father-in-law in 1797. Christian Pierre Mathiesen
Christian Pierre Mathiesen (14 April 1870 – 8 August 1953) was a Norwegian landowner and politician for the Conservative Party. Background He was born in Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway, as the youngest son of landowner and industrialist Haaken C. Mathiesen. He finished his secondary education in 1888, graduated from the agricultural school at Sem in 1890 and also took agricultural education in Denmark. He was the owner of Linderud Manor from 1893, while his oldest brother Haaken L. Mathiesen inherited the family company Mathiesen Eidsvold Værk. Charles Mathiesen (12 February 1911 – 7 November 1994) was a speed skater who was active from 1930 to 1948. Biography Mathiesen was born in Drammen, Norway. Skating for ''Drammens Skøyteklubb'' (Drammen's Skating Club – the same club Ivar Ballangrud represented for a while), Charles Mathiesen made his international debut in 1933, finishing eighth at the World Allround Championships. The following year, Mathiesen won his first medal when he took the silver at the Norwegian Allround Championships (held at his hometown of Drammen) behind Michael Staksrud. Mathiesen won the Norwegian Allround Championships, being the "eternal runner-up" behind skaters like Ballangrud, Staksrud, Hans Engnestangen, and a few more, winning silver a total number of six times. Árni M. Mathiesen (born 2 October 1958 in Reykjavík) is an Icelandic politician. From September 2005 through 31 January 2009, he was Minister of Finance in Iceland. From 1999 to 2005 he was Minister of Fisheries.
