Christy Mathewson
Christopher Mathewson (August 12, 1880 – October 7, 1925), nicknamed "Big Six", "the Christian Gentleman", "Matty", and "the Gentleman's Hurler", was a Major League Baseball right-handed pitcher, who played 17 seasons with the New York Giants. He stood tall and weighed . He was among the most dominant pitchers in baseball history, and ranks in the all-time top 10 in several key pitching categories, including wins, shutouts, and earned run average. In 1936, Mathewson was elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame as one of its first five members. Mathewson grew up in Factoryville, Pennsylvania, and began playing semiprofessional baseball when he was 14 years old. He played in the minor leagues in 1899, recording a record of 21 wins and two losses. He pitched for the New York Giants the next season, but was sent back to the minors. Sir George Ross Mathewson, (born 14 May 1940) is a Scottish businessman. He is best known for transforming the Scottish bank The Royal Bank of Scotland from a struggling regional player into a quasi global bank with parallels to Citigroup or HSBC. Henry Mathewson (December 24, 1886 – July 1, 1917) was an American professional baseball player that appeared in three games with the National League's New York Giants between the 1906 and 1907 seasons. A younger brother of Hall of Famer Christy Mathewson, Henry Mathewson's career was primarily spent pitching semi-professional baseball until his death at the age of 30. Rognvald Andrew Mathewson (19 February 1944 – 3 December 2020) was a British jazz double bassist and bass guitarist. During his career, Mathewson performed with Ronnie Scott, but also recorded with Stan Getz, Joe Henderson, Joan Armatrading, Ben Webster, Philly Joe Jones, Roy Eldridge, Oscar Peterson and Bill Evans. Courtney Lynn Kaiulani Mathewson (born September 14, 1986) is an American water polo player, part of the US team that won the gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She played water polo for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Bruins during their four-consecutive NCAA National Champion Women's Water Polo championships, and was named to the All-Tournament first team. Christy Mathewson–Memorial Stadium
Christy Mathewson–Memorial Stadium is a 13,100-seat multi-purpose stadium at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. Originally built in 1924, the stadium was renovated and renamed in honor of Mathewson in 1989. It is home to the Bucknell Bison football team from the Patriot League and the Lewisburg Area High School Green Dragons football team. It is named for Christy Mathewson, a Bucknell alumnus who went on to become a Hall of Fame pitcher for the New York Giants in the early 20th century. Mathewson Farm
The Mathewson Farm is an historic farm on 544 Greenville Avenue in Johnston, Rhode Island. It is an agricultural remnant of the formerly rural village of Belknap. The centerpiece of the farm complex is a late 18th-century farmhouse with vernacular Federal styling. Surviving outbuildings of the farm include a barn from the early 20th century, a henhouse, and a silo. This property was developed as a farm by William Mathewson in the 1790s, and was actively farmed by his descendants until the 1940s. The farm was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. Katherine Mathewson is a former candidate for political office in Ontario, Canada. She was the leader of the Green Party of Ontario in the 1990 provincial election.
