Katherine Mathewson
Katherine Mathewson is a former candidate for political office in Ontario, Canada. She was the leader of the Green Party of Ontario in the 1990 provincial election. The Ontario Green Party was a very decentralized organization prior to 1993. Although Mathewson represented the Green Party in a cable forum involving minor party leaders, she does not otherwise seem to have played a prominent role in the provincial campaign. There is no reference to her leadership on the party's official website. Mathewson received 608 votes in the Toronto constituency of Don Mills, finishing fifth out of seven candidates. The Green Party of Ontario (GPO; french: Parti vert de l'Ontario) is a political party in Ontario, Canada. The party is led by Mike Schreiner. In 2018, Schreiner was elected as the party's first member of the Ontario Legislative Assembly. In the past, the party did see significant gains in the 2007 provincial election, earning 8% of the popular vote with some candidates placing second and third in their ridings. Don Mills (electoral District)
Don Mills was a provincial electoral district in Ontario, Canada. It was created for the 1963 provincial election, and lasted until the provincial redistribution in 1996. The riding was formally retired with the 1999 provincial election. At its abolition, the riding consisted of the neighbourhoods of Woodbine Gardens and Parkview Hill in the borough of East York plus the neighbourhoods of Flemingdon Park and the southern part of Don Mills in North York (all of North York south of Lawrence Avenue). It was abolished into Don Valley East, Don Valley West and Beaches—East York. Margery Ward
Margery Ward (July 18, 1942 - January 22, 1993) was a politician in Ontario, Canada. She served as a New Democratic Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1990 until her death in 1993. Background Ward grew up in Bass River, New Brunswick. She came from a family of eight children, six girls and two boys. She left there as a teenager after dropping out of high school and moved to Toronto. She worked as a grocery store clerk for twenty years. During this time she completed her high school diploma at night school. She attended York University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in computer science. She went to work at Manufacturer's Life Insurance Company as a data processing manager and as a computer systems designer.
