Mateusz Kijowski
Mateusz Kijowski (born 12 December 1968) is an IT specialist, journalist, social activist, and blogger. Life and activism Born in Warsaw, Poland, Kijowski studied mathematics at the University of Warsaw. He transferred to Faculty of Family Sciences ( pl, Instytut Studiów nad Rodziną) at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw (former Warsaw Theological Academy). After one year he transferred yet again, this time, to study Journalism. He dropped out from university and started working at a clothing company, designing outdoor recreation gear. In 1991, he started working in the IT Department of the Polish daily Gazeta Wyborcza. At the end of 1993 he was hired by Computer Education Center ( pl, Centrum Edukacji Komputerowej), where he was training network administrators. ''Newsweek Polska'' is a Polish language weekly news magazine published in Poland as the Polish edition of ''Newsweek''. History ''Newsweek Polska'' was established in 2001. The founder of the weekly is Tomasz Wróblewski. The magazine is owned by Axel Springer. It is based in Warsaw and is published weekly on Mondays. NaTemat.pl (lit. ''OnTopic'') is a Polish language website created by Tomasz Lis on 22 February 2012. It includes a wide variety of content including latest events, politics, lifestyle, culture, social issues and economic and sports information. After seven months since the creation of naTemat, the boss and editor-in-chief Tomasz Machała reported that the website had exceeded one million unique visitors. According to the January 2013 study of the Polish internet by Megapanel_PBI/Gemius, the website was 15th place in the category of "information and journalism" with 940,495 real users. TVN24 is a Polish 24-hour commercial news channel, launched on 9 August 2001. Being a part of the TVN Network, TVN24 has been owned since July 2017 by US-based media company Warner Bros. Discovery. It gained broader popularity after the September 11, 2001 attacks in the US, which was the first major incident to be covered by TVN24. The Committee for the Defence of Democracy, CDD ( pl, Komitet Obrony Demokracji, ''KOD'') is a Polish-born civic organization and NGO which among its goals includes promoting the European values, especially democracy, rule of law, and human rights.
