Matanglawin
''Matanglawin'', literally ''"Hawk's Eye"'' and usually contracted as ''Mata'', is the official student publication of the Ateneo de Manila University in the Filipino language. The student paper dedicates itself to discussing socio-political issues in the Philippines, the plight and suffering of the working class, as well as pressing student rights issues. It is part of the Ateneo's Confederation of Publications (COP), including '' The GUIDON'' and ''Heights''. From a circulation of a few mimeographed copies hidden in books at the Rizal Library in the 1970s, ''Matanglawin'' is now published in glossy form and has a circulation of more than 2,000, serving the Loyola Schools community. Copies of the publication are also sent to student publications across the Philippines. Origin of the name The word or name ''Matanglawin'' contained negative connotations based from Philippine literary canon. Quezon City
Quezon City (, ; fil, Lungsod Quezon ), also known as the City of Quezon and Q.C. (read in Filipino as Kyusi), is the List of cities in the Philippines, most populous city in the Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 2,960,048 people. It was founded on October 12, 1939, and was named after Manuel L. Quezon, the List of presidents of the Philippines, second president of the Philippines. Aurelio Tolentino
Aurelio Tolentino y Valenzuela (October 15, 1869 – July 5, 1915) was a Filipino playwright, poet, journalist, and revolutionary. His works at the turn of the 20th century depicted his desire to see Philippine independence from its colonizers. He was arrested twice, first by the Spaniards and later by American forces. He wrote and directed the anti-imperialist play ''Kahapon, Ngayon at Bukas'' (''Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow''), which led to his arrest in 1903''.'' The College Editors Guild of the Philippines is an alliance of collegiate student publications in the Philippines. It is the oldest and only-existing publications alliance in the Asia-Pacific. It was established on July 25, 1931. It is also a member and a founding organization of Kabataan Partylist.
