Massimo Cioffi
Massimo Cioffi (Telese Terme, 24 May 1997) is an Italian rugby union player. His usual position is as a Wing and he currently plays for Valorugby Emilia in Top10. Under contract with Rovigo Delta, for 2019–20 Pro14 season, he named as ''Additional Player'' for Zebre in Pro 14. He played with Valorugby Emilia in Top10 in 2021−2022 season. In 2017 Cioffi was named in the Italy Under 20 squad and from 2018 he is part of the Italy Sevens squad also to participate at the Qualifying Tournament for the 2020 Summer Olympics. Telese Terme
Telese Terme, called simply Telese until 1991, is a city, ''comune'' (municipality) and former episcopal seat in the Province of Benevento, in the Campania region of southern Italy. It is located in the valley of the Calore, well known for its sulfuric hot springs. Etymology Telesia is an old word for the gem Sapphire. History Telese was an ancient Samnite (Italic) city, known as T(h)elesia. The city was captured by Hannibal in 217 BCE; later, the victor Roman general Scipio Africanus founded a Roman colony there. In 460 was established a Diocese of Telese / Thelesina (Latin adjective). Having fallen into decay after the Gothic War it was conquered by the Longobards, becoming part of the Lombard Duchy of Benevento as seat of a gastaldry (district). The city was destroyed in the years 847 and 860, by the Saracens, and again in the 11th century, during the war between King Roger II of Sicily and the Norman counts of the southern Italian mainland. The Top10, known as the Peroni Top10 for sponsorship reasons, and formerly Top 12, is Italy's top level professional men's rugby union competition. The Top 10 is run by Federazione Italiana Rugby (FIR) and is contested by 10 teams as of the 2019–2020 season, following the Italian federation's decision to name Peroni as the official partner of the Top10 competition. The Nations Cup is a rugby union competition that was first held in 2006 at Estádio Universitário in Lisbon with Argentina A, Italy A, Portugal and Russia taking part. The 2019 Rugby Europe Sevens Olympic Qualifying Tournament was held on 13–14 July in Colomiers at Stade Michel Bendichou. The champion of the tournament, England, qualified on behalf of Great Britain for the European spot in the 2020 Summer Olympics. The two runners-up, France and Ireland, advance to the 2020 Olympic repechage tournament. The United Rugby Championship (URC) is an annual rugby union competition involving professional teams from Ireland, Italy, Scotland, South Africa, and Wales. The current name was adopted in 2021 when the league expanded to include four South African teams previously from the SANZAR Super Rugby competition. The league is one of the three major professional leagues in Europe (along with the English Premiership and the French Top 14), the most successful teams from which go forward to compete in the European Rugby Champions Cup. Since 2022–23, despite the name, South African teams have been eligible to qualify for European competition, and one South African place is guaranteed.
