Mason Parris
Mason Parris (born October 1, 1999) is an American freestyle and folkstyle wrestler who competes at 125 kilograms. In freestyle, he claimed the 2019 World Junior Wrestling Championships gold medal. As a folkstyle wrestler, he was the 2023 NCAA Division I national and Big Ten Conference champion at 285 pounds for the Michigan Wolverines, and the Dan Hodge Trophy winner. High school career Parris attended Lawrenceburg High School in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, where he was a three-sport athlete, participating in wrestling, football, and track and field. In wrestling, he won three Indiana state titles at 220 pounds in 2016, 2017, and 2018. He set an Indiana state record with 11 career pins at the state tournament. 2021 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships
The 2021 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships took place from March 18–20, 2021, in St. Louis, Missouri at the Enterprise Center. The tournament was the 90th NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship, following the cancellation of the 2020 edition, and featured 63 teams across that level. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, the event was forced to occur with modifications. Due to the same reason, the Ivy League was unable to compete through the season, leaving out notable teams like Cornell and Princeton, therefore notable wrestlers such as two-time NCAA champion Yianni Diakomihalis and returning returning All-American Vito Arujau. In gridiron football, a sack occurs when the quarterback (or another offensive player acting as a passer) is tackled behind the line of scrimmage before throwing a forward pass, when the quarterback is tackled behind the line of scrimmage in the " pocket" and without clear intent, or when a passer runs out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage due to defensive pressure. Most forms of football have a move known as a tackle. The primary purposes of tackling are to dispossess an opponent of the ball, to stop the player from gaining ground towards goal or to stop them from carrying out what they intend. Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. Established in 1999, both Schalles awards, one (the Schalles Award) for the best collegiate pinner in America and the other, (the Junior Schalles Award) for the best scholastic pinner, are annually presented by WIN Magazine, Cliff Keen Athletics and the NWCA. Scholastic wrestling, also known in the United States as folkstyle wrestling, is a style of amateur wrestling practiced at the high school and middle school levels in the United States. This wrestling style is essentially collegiate wrestling with some slight rule modifications. According to an athletics participation survey taken by the National Federation of State High School Associations, boys' wrestling ranked eighth in terms of the number of schools sponsoring teams, with 9,445 schools participating in the 2006–07 school year. Lawrenceburg High School
Lawrenceburg High School is a high school located in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. The current building was built in 1937. In 1964 the new gym(later named the Bud Bateman gym) was built to bring the sectionals back to Lawrenceburg. The School was renovated in 1980–1981. This brought the addition of the auxiliary gym, swimming pool, auditorium, and new choir room, band room, and cafeteria. by 2011 the foundation in the Bateman gym was shifting and it was demolished in 2014 and replaced with the current gymnasium in the same location.
