Lorna Maseko (born 3 July 1983), is a South African chef, media personality and former ballet dancer. Early life and education Maseko was born and raised in the Johannesburg township of Alexandra. Her mother was a receptionist and her father was a taxi driver. She has an older brother and two younger sisters. Maseko took up ballet at the age of nine under the tuition of Martin Schonberg and qualified in the Cecchetti method. She pursued a Bachelor of Communications at the University of South Africa and later completed a year-long culinary course. Career Dance was Maseko's primary profession until around the age of 25. She toured as young as 16 and competed in the Prix de Lausanne. In 2005, she was crowned the premiere black ballerina in South Africa. Job Maseko
Job Maseko was a South African soldier during World War II, serving in the Native Military Corps as part of the South African 2nd Infantry Division. He was one of many Allied troops captured by the Axis in the surrender of the port of Tobruk in 1942. He gained fame by his actions in sinking a German vessel with a milk can whilst serving as a POW stevedore in Tobruk harbour, for which he was awarded the Military Medal. Before the War Before the war, Maseko worked as a miner in Springs South Africa. After completion of basic training, he was sent to North Africa to join the 2nd South African Division. Thulani Maseko
Thulani Rudolf Maseko (1 March 1970 – 21 January 2023) was a Swazi human rights lawyer who was imprisoned from 2014 to 2015, and declared a prisoner of conscience by Amnesty International. He launched a court challenge to King Mswati III of Eswatini in 2018 and was assassinated in 2023. He was a member of the People's United Democratic Movement (Pudemo). Early life and education Maseko was born at Luhleko, near Bhunya in Swaziland's Manzini Region on 1 March 1970. He attended the University of Swaziland, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Law in 1994 and a Bachelor of Laws in 1997. In 2011, he earned a Master in International Legal Studies from the American University's Washington College of Law. Andries "Six Mabone" Maseko (25 December 1955 – 26 October 2013) was a South African football striker who played for Moroka Swallows, San Jose Earthquakes, Washington Diplomats and Phoenix Inferno. Early life Maseko was born to Ephraim and Lettie Maseko (born 1914) in KwaThema. Ephraim Maseko died before he turned professional in 1972. Playing career In 1970, he joined Moroka Swallows from amateur club Harmed Stars at the age of 15. During a 1974 NPSL match against Umlazi Citizens, Maseko scored 8 goals in 13-1 win at the Sinaba Stadium, Daveyton. Zola Maseko
Zola Maseko (born 1967) is a Swazi film director and screenwriter. He is noted for his documentary films related to xenophobia. Biography Maseko was born in exile in 1967 and educated in Swaziland (now Eswatini) and Tanzania. After moving to the United Kingdom, he graduated from the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield in 1994. Maseko's first film was the documentary ''Dear Sunshine'', released in 1992. He participated in several uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK) guerrilla campaigns. He moved to South Africa in 1994 and wrote ''The Foreigner'', a short fiction film about xenophobia in this country.
