Andries Maseko
Andries "Six Mabone" Maseko (25 December 1955 – 26 October 2013) was a South African football striker who played for Moroka Swallows, San Jose Earthquakes, Washington Diplomats and Phoenix Inferno. Early life Maseko was born to Ephraim and Lettie Maseko (born 1914) in KwaThema. Ephraim Maseko died before he turned professional in 1972. Playing career In 1970, he joined Moroka Swallows from amateur club Harmed Stars at the age of 15. During a 1974 NPSL match against Umlazi Citizens, Maseko scored 8 goals in 13-1 win at the Sinaba Stadium, Daveyton. He was part of the Swallows era where the players were known as the 'Massacres' because majority of their surnames started with 'M'. The side include like Frederick Malebane, Mongezi Joel Mnini, Trott Nchilo Moloto, Ephraim Mashaba, Jimmy Mahlangu and Daniel Mophosho. KwaThema
KwaThema is a township south-west of Springs in the district of Ekurhuleni, Gauteng, South Africa. It was established in 1951 when Africans were forcibly removed from Payneville because it was considered by the apartheid government to be too close to a white town. The new township's layout was designed along modernist principles and became a model for many subsequent townships, although the envisaged social facilities were not implemented. The typical South African township house, the 51/9, was one of the plans developed for KwaThema. A black local authority with municipal status was established in 1984. In 1985 KwaThema experienced violent unrest and right-wing vigilante activity. KwaThema is a multi-racial township where most of South Africa's eleven official languages are spoken but the predominant ones are Sotho and Zulu. Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital is a hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa, it is the largest hospital in Africa and third largest hospital in the world. Motsau Joseph "Banks" Setlhodi (born 12 April 1947) in Randfontein, South Africa is a retired South African association football player who played in South Africa for Randfontein Young Zebras and Kaizer Chiefs. Early life Setlhodi grew up in Madubaville, Randfontein. He attended Topia Lower Primary and later Wesele Higher Primary. He grew up playing soccer in the street until he was invited by his friend to play for Randfontein Young Zebras' 3rd Division side which he played for until he was promoted to the senior team. Lawrence Chelin (24 August 1958 – 23 June 2020) was a South African professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Rand Stadium
The Rand Stadium is a stadium in Rosettenville, a suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa. It was set to be utilized as a training field for teams participating in the 2010 FIFA World Cup after being completely rebuilt and reopened in August 2008. Despite the relatively small capacity, it is regarded as one of the best playing surfaces in the country. History Rand Stadium was constructed between 1949 and 1951 at a cost of £60,000 with a capacity of 15,000.
