Alice Masak French (June 29, 1930 – July 5, 2013) was an Inuit author who lived in Souris, Manitoba, Canada. An Inuvialuit, she was born at Baillie Island in the Northwest Territories. Her work focuses on the experiences of Inuit women, and discusses the struggle to hold on to Native tradition. Peter Masak
Peter C. Masak (August 17, 1957 – May 22, 2004) was an engineer, inventor, and glider pilot. He graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in mechanical engineering in May 1981 from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. He earned his glider pilot license at the age of 16 and his power pilot license at the age of 18, the minimum ages for both. Peter was a Canadian soaring record holder and represented Canada and later the United States in the World Gliding Championships. He logged almost 2000 hours of glider flight time. Ronald Alan Masak (July 1, 1936 – October 20, 2022) was an American actor. He began working as a stage performer, and mostly was involved in theater until transitioning to film and television becoming a familiar character actor. From 1988 to 1996, Masak played the recurring role Sheriff Mort Metzger in the CBS mystery series ''Murder, She Wrote'' starring Angela Lansbury, who predeceased him by only 9 days. Masak's early television appears includes roles on ''The Twilight Zone'', ''Get Smart'', ''The Monkees'', ''I Dream of Jeannie'', ''Bewitched'', and ''The Mary Tyler Moore Show''. From 1970 to 1973 he appeared in the ABC anthology comedy series ''Love, American Style''. He then starred in another ABC series, ''Love Thy Neighbor'' (1973). He then earned roles in the NBC crime series '' Police Story'' (1975-1978), and in the ABC sitcom ''Webster'' (1983-1989). Mashak
The mashak (also known as , , , ', ', ', ', '', )'' is a type of bagpipe found in Northern India, Uttarakhand, Sudurpaschim Province (especially Baitadi and Darchula district) of Nepal and parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan. The pipe was associated with weddings and festive occasions. In India it is historically found in Garhwal (kumaon) in Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. This bagpipe uses single reeds, and can be played either as a drone or as a melody instrument. Etymology The etymology of the term ''mashak'' stems from its common use in India, referring to a skin bag used for carrying water. This skin bag shares a similar function to the air bag of the bag pipes.
