Democratic Action Party (Malaysia)
The Democratic Action Party (abbreviation: DAP; ms, Parti Tindakan Demokratik; ; ta, ஜனநாயக செயல் கட்சி) is a centre-left social democratic political party in Malaysia. As one of four component parties of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition, it formed the federal government after defeating Barisan Nasional in the 2018 Malaysian general election, ending the party's 53 year-long stay in the opposition. However, before the coalition finished its first term, defections from partnering parties caused it to lose power after 22 months, culminating in the 2020 Malaysian political crisis. Mordi anak Bimol (born 20 January 1985) is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Mas Gading since May 2018. He is a member of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) opposition coalition. He has also served as the Vice Chairman of DAP of Sarawak since November 2018 and Chairman of DAP of Tasik Biru. The Progressive Democratic Party (Malay: Parti Demokratik Progresif, Abbreviation: PDP), formerly known as Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party is a Sarawak based political party in Malaysia founded in 2002. The party was founded in the wake of the de-registration of the Sarawak National Party in November 2002 by a faction aligned to the Chief Minister of Sarawak, Abdul Taib Mahmud, led by William Mawan Ikom. Tiki Lafe
Tiki Lafe (born 11 May 1954) was the Member of Parliament of Malaysia for the Mas Gading constituency in Sarawak from 1999 to 2013, representing the Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) in the then-ruling Barisan Nasional coalition. Tiki was a Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development in the Barisan Nasional government (appointed in 2004), but was left out of the ministry after the 2008 election. His loss of the ministry triggered unhappiness among the Bidayuh community in Sarawak that there were no longer any Bidayuh appointed to the ministry. He was dropped as a Barisan Nasional candidate for the 2013 election. He recontested the seat as an independent, but was defeated by the Barisan Nasional candidate Nogeh Gumbek.
