María Del Carmen Concepción González
María del Carmen Concepción González (born 15 September 1957) is a Cuban politician and the Cuban Minister of Food Industries (2009–present). She was appointed as a result of the 2009 shake-up by Raúl Castro. She is a Deputy to the National Assembly of Popular Power. She was First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in the Pinar del Río Province. Communist Party Of Cuba
The Communist Party of Cuba ( es, Partido Comunista de Cuba, PCC) is the sole ruling party of Cuba. It was founded on 3 October 1965 as the successor to the United Party of the Cuban Socialist Revolution, which was in turn made up of the 26th of July Movement and Popular Socialist Party that seized power in Cuba after the 1959 Cuban Revolution. The party governs Cuba as an authoritarian one-party state where dissidence and political opposition are prohibited and repressed. The Cuban constitution ascribes the role of the party to be the " leading force of society and of the state". The highest body within the PCC is the Party Congress, which convenes every five years. When the Congress is not in session, the Central Committee is the highest body. In March 2009, President Raúl Castro of Cuba dismissed numerous government ministers. Officials * Foreign Minister Felipe Pérez Roque was dismissed on 2 March 2009. Pinar Del Río Province
Pinar del Río is one of the provinces of Cuba. It is at the western end of the island of Cuba. Geography The Pinar del Río province is Cuba's westernmost province and contains one of Cuba's three main mountain ranges, the Cordillera de Guaniguanico, divided into the easterly Sierra del Rosario and the westerly Sierra de los Órganos. These form a landscape characterised by steep sided limestone hills (called mogotes) and flat, fertile valleys. One such topographic feature, the Viñales Valley, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
