Marzia Caravelli
Marzia Caravelli (born 23 October 1981 in Pordenone) is an Italian hurdler. Biography She was 3rd at the 2011 European Team Championships in Stockholm. Her 100 metres hurdles personal best is 12"85 set in Montgeron on 13 May 2012. In 2005 Marzia Caravelli made her debut for the Italian national team, but she was a late developer in sporting terms and begun to get good results at international level in 2010 at the age of 29. Despite reaching the semi-finals at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, she has not succeeded in convincing the national federation to allow her to become a member of one of the Italian military sports bodies. 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships
The 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics was the 14th edition of the global-level indoor track and field competition and was held between March 9–11, 2012 at the Ataköy Athletics Arena in Istanbul, Turkey. It was the first of four IAAF World Athletics Series events in 2012, which includes the World Race Walking Cup, the World Junior Championships and the World Half Marathon Championships. Preparation The IAAF announced on March 25, 2007, at an IAAF Council meeting in Mombasa, Kenya that it had received bids from Turkey and Qatar to host the 2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships. In November 2007 at an IAAF Council meeting in Monaco, Doha was selected to host the 2010 edition, but due to the quality of the Istanbul bid, the Turkish city was chosen to host the following edition of the competition in 2012. 2013 World Championships In Athletics – Women's 100 Metres Hurdles
The women's 100 metres hurdles at the 2013 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Luzhniki Stadium on 12–15 August. In the heats and semis it was the same two names, now lined up next to each other. Brianna Rollins has set the event on fire all season long, winning the NCAA Championships in the fastest time in the last 20 years and Sally Pearson the defending champion and Olympic champion, who had that same honor before Rollins. In the final it was Pearson out first, but Rollins did what she has done all year, run faster than everybody else. Pearson equalled her season best from the semis in second, Tiffany Porter put in a personal best 12.55 to push Dawn Harper off the medal stand only the second time at a major since the 2008 Olympics. The 14th IAAF World Championships in Athletics (Moscow 2013) () was an international athletics competition held in Moscow, Russia, from 10–18 August 2013. Initially, Russia won the most gold medals to top the table for the first time since 2001. It was also the first time ever the host nation took the top of the medal table. The women's 100 metres hurdles competition at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom was held at the Olympic Stadium on 6–7 August. The semi-finals showed all the top athletes were at their best, with the first 5 finalists achieving their personal best, except Sally Pearson who improved the 2012 world leading time, and Nevin Yanıt's new national record for Turkey. In the final under London rains, Pearson led from the start but after ticking a hurdle, defending champion Dawn Harper closed fast to make it close. Kellie Wells was solidly in third while Lolo Jones edged Yanit for fourth place. Athletics At The 2012 Summer Olympics
The athletics competitions at the 2012 Olympic Games in London were held during the last 10 days of the Games, on 3–12 August. Track and field events took place at the Olympic Stadium in east London. The road events, however, started and finished on The Mall in central London. Over 2,000 athletes from 201 nations competed in 47 events in total, with both men and women having a very similar schedule of events. Men competed in 24 events and women in 23, of which 21 were the same for both. The women's schedule lacked the 50 km race walk and included 100 m hurdles and heptathlon as opposed to the men's 110 m hurdles and decathlon.
