Maryland GAA
Maryland GAA is a Gaelic football club based in Drumraney, County Westmeath, Ireland. It was founded in 1957. Maryland play in the Westmeath Intermediate Football Championship and have been winners on 2 occasions, 1980 and 2008. Maryland GAA were winners of the Celebrity Bainisteoir (season 1) in 2008 under the guidance of radio and television presenter Marty Whelan who replaced Fianna Fáil TD Mary O'Rourke as bainisteoir during the series. Whelan's team beat solicitor Gerald Kean's Cork team, Mayfield, in the final at Parnell Park on 16 May 2008. County representatives Maryland were represented on both Westmeath's All Ireland Football victories. Gaelic Football
Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In the game, two types of scores are possible: points and goals. A point is awarded for kicking or hand-passing the ball over the crossbar , signalled by the umpire raising a white flag. All-Ireland Under-21 Football Championship
The GAA Football Under-20 All-Ireland Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the EirGrid GAA Football Under-20 All-Ireland Championship) is an annual inter-county Gaelic football competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition for male players between the ages of 17 and 20 in Ireland. The championship was contested as the All-Ireland Under-21 Championship between 1964 and 2017 before changing to an under-20 age category from 2018. The final, usually held in August, serves as the culmination of a series of games played during the summer months, and the results determine which team receives the Clarke Cup. Kieran Martin
Kieran Martin (born 1990 in Drumraney, County Westmeath) is an Irish sportsperson. A dual player, he plays both Gaelic football and hurling with his local club Maryland and has been a member of the Westmeath senior inter-county team in both codes since 2009. Playing career Martin was a playing member of the team that defeated Dublin at Parnell Park in the 2019 O'Byrne Cup final, his county's first time to win that trophy since 1988. He won his second piece of silverware of 2019 when Westmeath won the 2019 National Football League Division 3 league title by a goal against Laois at Croke Park, Martin scored 0–1. Westmeath County Football Team
The Westmeath county football team represents Westmeath in men's Gaelic football and is governed by Westmeath GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Leinster Senior Football Championship and the National Football League. Tomás Ó Sé
Tomás Ó Sé (; born 21 June 1978) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer. He played Gaelic football with Nemo Rangers and at senior level for the Kerry county team from 1998 until he retired in 2013, playing predominantly in the half-back line. In one of the most decorated careers in Gaelic Games, Ó Sé won 5 All-Ireland titles, 9 Munster titles and was Footballer of the Year in 2004. Paul Galvin (Gaelic Footballer)
Paul Galvin (born 2 November 1979) is an Irish sportsperson. He plays Gaelic football with his local club Finuge, his divisional side Feale Rangers and for the Kerry county team between 2003 and 2014. Galvin had the honour of being named as the 1000th All Star Award. He also represented Ireland in the 2004 International Rules Series. Galvin writes a weekly fashion column for the ''Irish Independent'' newspaper and presents a show on Radio Kerry. He has also managed the Wexford footballers. Noel Kennelly
Noel Kennelly is a footballer from the Listowel Emmets club in North Kerry. He is a son of former Kerry great Tim Kennelly and older brother of Tadhg Kennelly. He won an All-Ireland SFC medal with Kerry in 2000. Tadhg Kennelly
Tadhg Kennelly (born 1 July 1981) is an Irish-Australian former international sportsperson turned recruiter and coach. He is most known for his top-level careers in both Gaelic football and Australian rules football being the only holder of both an AFL Premiership medallion and a Senior All-Ireland Championship medal, the highest-possible team-based achievement in both sports. He has also represented Ireland in the International Rules Series. Kennelly grew up playing Gaelic football with Listowel Emmets in Kerry, but he moved to Australia to play professional Australian rules football in the Australian Football League. Jack O'Connor (Gaelic Footballer)
Jack O'Connor (born 23 October 1960) is an Irish Gaelic football manager and former player. In 2021, he was appointed manager of the senior Kerry county team, having earlier managed it over two terms in the 2000s. O'Connor played football with his local club Dromid Pearses from the 1970s until the early 2000s.
