Maryetta Midgley
Maryetta Midgley (born 27 May 1942) is an English soprano singer. Midgley was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, the daughter of operatic tenor Walter Midgley and pianist Gladys Vernon. She is the sister of tenor Vernon Midgley. She was educated at the Holy Cross School, New Malden, Surrey, England. She won a scholarship to the Trinity College of Music, where she studied singing and the piano. She began her career with the George Mitchell Singers and made her first radio broadcast as a child in '' Round the Horne''. She appeared in the "Fol-De-Rols" at the Congress Theatre, Eastbourne and in '' Camelot'' at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. She has broadcast regularly on BBC Radio 2 in "Friday Night is Music Night", "Melodies for You", "Among Your Souvenirs", "Saturday Night is Gala Night" and "Robert Farnon's World of Music". Harold Geller (1916-2005) was an Australian-born American conductor and composer. Early life Harold Geller was born on February 23, 1916, in Sydney, Australia. Career Geller was a conductor for the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London. He subsequently composed music for films like '' Trio'', '' Jungle Street'', '' Fury at Smugglers' Bay'' and '' The Mistress''. His music was also featured in '' Velvet'', a Spanish television series, in 2014–2015. Harold Geller spent most of his career in Great Britain, giving hundreds of broadcasts for the BBC with his fourteen piece orchestra in programmes such as 'Music While You Work' and 'Morning Music'. Lorin Maazel
Lorin Varencove Maazel (, March 6, 1930 – July 13, 2014) was an American conductor, violinist and composer. He began conducting at the age of eight and by 1953 had decided to pursue a career in music. He had established a reputation in the concert halls of Europe by 1960 but, by comparison, his career in the U.S. progressed far more slowly. He served as music director of The Cleveland Orchestra, Orchestre National de France, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic, among other posts. Maazel was well-regarded in baton technique and possessed a photographic memory for scores. Described as mercurial and forbidding in rehearsal, he mellowed in old age. ''Show Boat'' is a musical with music by Jerome Kern and book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. It is based on Edna Ferber's best-selling 1926 novel of the same name. The musical follows the lives of the performers, stagehands and dock workers on the ''Cotton Blossom'', a Mississippi River show boat, over 40 years from 1887 to 1927. Wiener Blut (operetta)
''Wiener Blut'' ('' Viennese Blood'' or ''Viennese Spirit'') is an operetta named after the " Wiener Blut" waltz, supposedly with music by the composer Johann Strauss the Younger, who did not live to witness the première. Such was the popularity of the original "Wiener Blut" Op. 354 waltz until the time of the composer's death that his work would be chosen as the name of the operetta with libretto by Victor Léon and Leo Stein set around the Vienna Congress of 1814 to 1815. Strauss did not specifically compose any music for this operetta, although many of his earlier compositions were incorporated for the work. He took no active part in the musical arrangement at its conception nor any production work leading up to its première.
