Mary Ghansah
Mary Ghansah (born May 13, 1959) is a veteran Ghanaian gospel musician and ordained reverend minister. She is best known for her worship career which spanned over 40 years. Personal life Mary, was born to Mr Joseph Ghansah and Madam Elizabeth Anderson in Tema. She is the eldest among five siblings. After undertaking her basic education in Tema at Tema Aggrey Road School, Mary continued to Kwahuman Secondary School, Nkawkaw and Breman Essikuma Secondary School, Breman Essikuma, for her secondary education. She later became a telephone receptionist after training with P&T Engineering College of Ghana (currently the Ghana Technology University College-Tesano). After acquisition of a Bachelor of Arts (BA) Degree in Theology with Glory Leadership Institute, Sakumono an affiliate of Trinity College, Legon. Gospel Music
Gospel music is a traditional genre of Christian music, and a cornerstone of Christian media. The creation, performance, significance, and even the definition of gospel music varies according to culture and social context. Gospel music is composed and performed for many purposes, including aesthetic pleasure, religious or ceremonial purposes, and as an entertainment product for the marketplace. Gospel music is characterized by dominant vocals and strong use of harmony with Christian lyrics. Gospel music can be traced to the early 17th century. Hymns and sacred songs were often repeated in a call and response fashion, heavily influenced by ancestral African music. The Ghana Music Awards, currently known as the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) for sponsorship reasons, is an annual music awards event in Ghana established in 1999 by a local event organizer and planner company known as CharterHouse to originally and primarily celebrate the "outstanding contributions of Ghanaian musicians to the growth and expansion of its associated industry". The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) is an umbrella group that unites all musicians in Ghana irrespective of life music genre. Bice Osei Kuffour was the former president of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA). He was elected on August 18, 2011, in Tamale in the Northern Region of the country. The other candidates were Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, Nana Tuffour and Willi Roi.
