Marvin S. Robinson II is an American politician serving in the Kansas House of Representatives since 2023. Life Robinson graduated from Sumner High School. He attended Emporia State University and Temple University. He dropped out of college. He served in the United States Navy as an operations specialist and was honorably discharged. Robinson worked for organizations in Wyandotte County, Kansas that serve underprivileged minority groups. He has advocated for the preservation and study of the Quindaro Townsite. Robinson was elected in 2022 to represent District 35 of the Kansas House of Representatives. He succeeded his first cousin, Broderick Henderson. Quindaro Townsite
Quindaro Townsite is a former settlement, then ghost town, and now an archaeological district. It is around North 27th Street and the Missouri Pacific Railroad tracks in Kansas City, Kansas. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 22, 2002. It was settled by abolitionists in late 1856, with construction starting in 1857. The boomtown population peaked at 600, rapidly settled by migrants. They were aided by the New England Emigrant Aid Company, who were trying to help secure Kansas as a free territory. One of several villages hugging the narrow bank of the Missouri River under the bluffs, the town was a free state port-of-entry for abolitionist forces of Kansas. It was established as part of the resistance to stop the westward spread of slavery. Quindaro's people also aided escaped slaves from Missouri and connected them with the Underground Railroad.
