Martinus Lørdahl
Martinus Lørdahl (28 July 1873, in Hof, Vestfold – 2 April 1933, in Oslo) was a Norwegian businessperson, multi sports competitor and sports administrator. He was active in several sports, in particular athletics, swimming and skating. He was among Norway's best racewalkers, and had several good results in speed skating, including placing second at the 1905 World Allround Speed Skating Championships. He co-founded the sports club Kristiania Idrætsforening in 1893, and participated in restarting Christiania Skøiteklub in 1898. He was a driving force in the construction of Bislett Stadium from 1908. He served as President of the Norwegian Swimming Federation from 1920 to 1923, and co-founded . Hof, Vestfold
Hof is a former municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. It merged into Holmestrand on Jan. 1, 2018. The administrative centre of the former municipality was the village of Hof. The municipality of Hof was established on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). Hof had 3,031 inhabitants as of 1 January 2002. General information Name The municipality (originally the parish) was named after the old ''Hof'' farm (Old Norse: ''Hof''), since the first church was built here. The name is identical with the word '' hof'' which means "pagan temple (for the Norse Gods)". Coat-of-arms The coat-of-arms is from modern times. They were granted on 17 July 1992. Bislett Stadium
Bislett Stadium ( no, Bislett stadion) is a sports stadium in Oslo, Norway. Bislett is Norway's most well known sports arena internationally, with 15 speed skating world records and more than 50 track and field world records having been set here. The original stadium was demolished in 2004 and construction of a new stadium was completed by the summer of 2005. The New Bislett Stadium was designed by C.F. Møller Architects. History Bislett Stadium lies on the site of a 19th-century brick works, which was bought by the Municipality of Kristiania (Oslo) in 1898, and turned into a sports field in 1908. The merchant, speed skater, gymnast and sports organizer Martinus Lørdahl was instrumental in facilitating the construction of the first bleachers, begun in 1917 and completed in 1922 along with the new club house. Per Ung (5 June 1933 – 20 June 2013) was a Norwegian sculptor and graphic artist. Biography Ung was born in Oslo, Norway. He was the son of Per Ohlsen (1907–85) and Randi Tangen (1905-89). He was schooled in the conservative sculptural tradition but gradually distanced himself from formal and substantive traditionalism. He received his sculptor education under the influential of Per Palle Storm (1910–1994) at the Norwegian National Academy of Fine Arts from 1952-55. He became a student of Anthony Caro (1924–2013) at St. Martin's School of Art in London in 1960. Ung made a number of public portrait statues and monuments, most of them on private assignments. His first large public commission was the statue of actress Johanne Dybwad (bronze. 1959), located on ''Johanne Dybwads plass'' outside the National Theatre in Oslo. Oslo Skøiteklub (OSK) is a sports club in Oslo. Its home arena is Frogner Stadion. The club has departments for speed skating and figure skating. Establishment Christiania Skøiteklub - later Kristiania Skøiteklub (KSK) - was founded 18 February 1864. The formation of the club was a spin-off from a skating competition on fjord ice in the Oslo Fjord 1 March 1863. The skating sport was quite popular at the time, and the club had about 1000 members after two years, and more than 5000 members in 1870, when Christiania had less than 70000 inhabitants. Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality.
