Piero Martinetti
Piero Martinetti (Pont Canavese, 21 August 1872 – Cuorgnè, 23 March 1943) was an Italian philosopher. Martinetti was professor of theoretical and moral philosophy. He was one of the few university professors, as well as the only Italian academic philosopher, to refuse to swear an oath of allegiance to the Fascist Party. Early life and education Pier Federico Giuseppe Celestino Mario Martinetti was the first of four children. His parents were Rosalia Bertogliatti (1846–1927) and Francesco Martinetti (1846–1921). After completing his secondary school education at the Liceo classico Carlo Botta in Ivrea, Pietro went on to study Philosophy at the University of Turin, graduating at the age of 21 in 1893 with a dissertation on the Samkhya system in Indian philosophy. Despite some initial resistance from the Philosophy department, the dissertation was published by Lattes in 1896 and won the Gautieri Prize. Maria Martinetti
Maria Martinetti (1864–1921) was an Italian painter. She was a student of Gustavo Simoni. She lived and exhibited in Italy and France. In 1890 she moved to the United States. She is known for her genre paintings. Biography Martinetti was born in 1864. She attended the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma, Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. She went on to exhibit her paintings in Rome, Venice and Paris. In 1890 she emigrated to the United States. Martinetti exhibited her work at the Museum of Science and Industry (Chicago), Palace of Fine Arts at the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois. She died on August 16, 1921, in Marin County, California. ''Luis Martinetti, Contortionist'' is an 1894 American short film produced by the Edison Manufacturing Company. The film, which runs 12.5 seconds, consists of a contortionist act performed by Luis Martinetti of the Martinetti Brothers trapeze act. Martinetti wears tiger-striped tights and performs contortionist poses on a pair of trapeze rings. The film was shot on October 11, 1894 at the Edison Black Maria studio in West Orange, New Jersey. The film is preserved by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and was released on the 2000 DVD box set ''Treasures from American Film Archives'', which was compiled by the National Film Preservation Foundation. Nella Martinetti (21 January 1946 – 29 July 2011) was a Swiss singer-songwriter, affectionately nicknamed "Bella Nella". She was born in Brissago, Ticino, Switzerland. In 1986, she became the first winner of the Grand Prix der Volksmusik with the song "Bella Musica", which she composed. In 1987, along with Atilla Şereftuğ, Martinetti approached a then unknown young Canadian singer Céline Dion, asking her to represent Switzerland in the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest. Paul Martinetti (June 22, 1846 – December 26, 1924) was a French-American entertainer and stage actor. He was popular in English music halls and pantomimes between the 1870s and 1900s, and in retirement became a British national. Biography Martinetti was born in France, the son of Julien and Adele Martinetti, who were Italian subjects. Julien Martinetti (1821–1884) was from a long-established family of acrobats, mime artists and pantomime performers who travelled widely throughout Europe. With his brother Philippe (1829–1874), he joined with the equally famous family troupe led by Gabriel Ravel, and they travelled in 1848 to the United States, where they performed together for several years, sometimes in association with Charles Blondin. Daniele Martinetti (born June 6, 1981, in Rome) is an Italian footballer who plays for Sassuolo at Serie B. Martinetti started his career at A.S. Roma youth rank.
