Martinelli Building
The Martinelli Building (in Portuguese: ''Edifício Martinelli''), with 28 floors, is the first skyscraper built in Brazil. Located in São Paulo, it is 105 meters tall. The building was planned in 1922 by the Italian-born entrepreneur, Giuseppe Martinelli. Construction began in 1924, and was completed in 1929. At the time of its opening, it was the tallest building in Latin America, and the largest concrete-framed building in the world. The building was completely remodeled by Mayor Olavo Setúbal from 1975 to 1979. Today, the building houses the Departments of Municipal Housing and planning, companies Emurb and Cohab-SP, the headquarters of the Association of Banks of SP, and several shops on the ground floor of the building. Palacio Barolo
Palacio Barolo is a landmark office building, located at 1370 Avenida de Mayo, in the neighborhood of Montserrat, Buenos Aires, Argentina. It stood as Buenos Aires' tallest building for more than a decade until the construction of the Kavanagh Building in 1936. Its twin brother, Palacio Salvo, is a building designed and erected in Eclectic style, built by the same architect in Montevideo. This building was declared a national historic monument in 1997. Olavo Egídio Setúbal (16 April 1923 – 27 August 2008) was a Brazilian industrialist, banker and politician. He was Mayor of São Paulo from 1975 to 1979, Minister of External Relations from 1985 to 1986, and chairman of the Itaúsa conglomerate from 2001 until his death in 2008. Early life Olavo Setúbal was born in São Paulo. His surname comes from the city Setúbal in Portugal, where his great-grandfather was born. The Joseph Gire Building, better known as the A Noite Building or Edificio o Jornal A Noite, is an office building located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil that served as the headquarters of the Rio-based newspaper '' A Noite''.
