Martin Rowe
Martin Rowe (born 24 June 1971) is a British and Manx rally driver who won the British Rally Championship in 1998, the British Formula Rally Championship in 2001, Production World Rally Championship in 2003 and the Chinese Rally Championship in 2006. Alongside his title in the British Rally Championship in 1998, Rowe took the Formula Rally Championship in 2001 driving a Ford Puma S1600 after original champion, Justin Dale, his co-driver Andrew Bargery, and winning manufacturer Peugeot Peugeot (, , ) is a French brand of automobiles owned by Stellantis. Onchan
Onchan (; glv, Kione Droghad) is a village in the parish of Onchan on the Isle of Man. It is at the north end of Douglas Bay. Administratively a district, it has the second largest population of settlements on the island, after Douglas, with which it forms a conurbation. In Manx the name for the village is ''Kione Droghad'' meaning "bridge end". Early history In the 1890s a 5,000-year-old stone age axe was found in the Cassa Field by Onchan wetlands. In the Viking reign Onchan became part of Middle sheading. The name of the village is identified with St Connachan who was Bishop of Sodor and Man in 540 and the church named after him, Kirk Coonachan. An early name for the village is gv, Kiondroghad which literally translated means "bridgehead". The earliest written record of Kiondroghad was in the 1643 Manorial Roll, when it was very small. Production World Rally Championship
The FIA Production World Rally Championship, or PWRC, was a companion rally series to the World Rally Championship, contested by Group N rally cars. History The series started in 1987 as ''FIA Cup for Production Rally Drivers'' and obtained the world championship status in 2002. The eligible cars were still Group N modified road cars such as the Subaru Impreza WRX and the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. Between 2007 and 2009 the PWRC allowed Super 2000 cars alongside regular Group N entries. In 2010 the S2000 cars were moved to a dedicated championship named SWRC (Super 2000 World Championship). With the introduction of Group R cars since 2008, the PWRC was cancelled at the end of 2012 and was replaced by the World Rally Championship-3 open exclusively to 2WD based cars homologated in R1, R2 and R3 classes. Guy Wilks
Guy Wilks (born 22 January 1981) is a British rally driver. Wilks started rallying at the age of 19, but currently drives for JRM in the FIA World Rallycross Championship. In 2011 Wilks drove for Peugeot UK in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge. In 2012 he did not compete. Career Wilks who was born in Bishop Auckland, County Durham became Ford Ka Junior Champion in 2000 in his first year in the sport, graduating within the Ford 'Ladder of Opportunity' scheme to the Puma 1400 series for 2001. He finished second in the championship. The following year Wilks entered the British Rally Championship (BRC) in a Super 1600 specification Puma, finishing fifth overall in the championship and third in the British Super1600 Rally Championship. Mark Higgins (driver)
Mark Higgins (born 21 May 1971) is a Manx rally driver competing in the British Rally Championship. His co-driver was Rory Kennedy. Career Higgins was born on the Isle of Man on 21 May 1971. He began his career in motorsport at the age of nine when he took up karting helped by his mother and father. By the age of 17, Higgins had successfully competed in a range of motor sport activities such as trial bikes and karts. He impressed many people as a young man and soon attracted the attention of Manx businessman Roy Dixon who took the young Higgins under his wing, and at just 17 Higgins began his professional motorsport career with a trip to Sweden to learn from the legendary Finn Timo Mäkinen and Anders Kulläng. Justin Dale (born May 28, 1971) is a rally driver and driver trainer from Winchester, Hampshire, England. Dale started rallying in 1992 at the Peugeot Rally Challenge, driving a Peugeot 205 GTi. In 1996 Dale entered the British Rally Championship with co-driver Andrew Bargery for Peugeot Sport, finishing third overall. He continued to drive for Peugeot in the British Rally Championship through the 2000 season until 2001 when no season was held. In 2002 Dale competed in the WRC competing in the Rally GB as a Mitsubishi factory driver. British Rally Championship
The British Rally Championship is a rallying series based in the United Kingdom. The first championship was run in 1958 and it has been licensed by the Motor Sports Association (MSA) since 1999. MSA has opted not to run the series in 2015, instead giving its promotion to its own subsidiary (IMS) for 2016.
