Martin Báez
Martin Antonio Báez is an Argentinian criminal and the son of Lázaro Báez. The younger Báez, who is a director of Austral Construcciones, a construction firm founded by his father, is, like the elder Báez, a central figure in the corruption scandal known variously as “ Lázarogate” and “The Route of the K Money,” the letter K being a reference to the ties enjoyed by Báez and other suspects to the presidencies of the late Néstor Kirchner and his wife, the incumbent, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner. According to ''Perfil'', Martin Báez is the single individual who has been “most compromised” by Lázarogate. Career Martin Báez's first job was at Epsur SA, where he was a director. Lázaro Báez
Lázaro Báez (born 11 February 1951) is an Argentine businessman. Báez is a central figure in the so-called corruption scandal known as The Route of the K-Money, surrounding former Argentine presidents Néstor Kirchner and Cristina Fernández de Kirchner; the case was also known as ''Lázarogate''. Báez became a friend of Kirchner in 1991, and in 2003 founded a construction company, Austral Construcciones, which was awarded many government contracts during Kirchner's presidency. In 2011 Báez built Kirchner's mausoleum. He has been called "the main beneficiary of public works in Patagonia". In custody since 2016, in 2021 he was sentenced to 12 years in prison for money laundering.
