Martha Colburn
Martha Colburn is a filmmaker and artist. She is best known for her animation films, which are created through puppetry, collage, and paint on glass techniques. She also makes installations and performs her films with live musical performance. Yet music and film have always shared a deep connection within Colburn’s work. Biography Colburn spent her childhood near the Appalachian Mountains between Gettysburg and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She began making art at a very young age, but did not start working with film until 1994. In an interview with ''Blank Screen Media'', Colburn discusses her past and present influences for making art: "In high school it was politics and history and then in my twenties I made around 50 music films and now I am back to the political and historical films." Caroline Kraabel
Caroline Kraabel (born 1961 in Torrance, California) is an American saxophonist. Career After living in Seattle, Kraabel moved to London while in her teenage years. She started playing saxophone and became active in London's improvised music scene, developing a style based on extended techniques and acoustics. She performed solo and with John Edwards, Veryan Weston, Charlotte Hug, Maggie Nicols, Phil Hargreaves, and the London Improvisors Orchestra. She organized and conducted pieces for Mass Producers , a 20-piece, all-female saxophone/voice orchestra and for Saxophone Experimentals in Space, a 55-piece group of young saxophonists. Jason Willett is an American musician, known largely for his work with experimental rock groups including Half Japanese, Can Openers, Pleasant Livers, X-Ray Eyes, The Dramatics (Martha Colburn and Jason Willett), The Jaunties, The Attitude Robots, Leprechaun Catering, and many more. James Chance, also known as James White (born James Siegfried, April 20, 1953), is an American saxophonist, keyboard player, and singer. KREEPA
kREEPA is a group that perform electronic music and musical improvisation founded by John Richards and Hilary Jeffery in 2000. The group performs a type of industrial jazz and electro-noise. Career The group began with recordings of extended instrumental improvisations with starkly contrasting electronic textures. In 2000, the contrabass recorder player Cesar Villavicencio joined the group after meeting Jeffery in the Meta Orchestra at Dartington International Summer School. Recordings continued throughout 2001 with Villavicencio and the British saxophonist Paul Dunmall. These original recordings became part of two limited edition CD-R releases. During 2002, kREEPA collaborated with the American dancer, choreographer and designer Aurora Corsano. RE/Search Publications is an American magazine and book publisher, based in San Francisco, founded by its editor V. Vale in 1980. In several issues, Andrea Juno was also credited as an editor. Thollem McDonas is an American pianist, improviser, composer, singer-songwriter, touring performer, musical educator, and social critic. His musical compositions and performances have ranged from classical, and free jazz, to experimental and punk rock.
