Marsabit District
Marsabit County is a county in Kenya. Covering a surface area of 66,923.1 square kilometres. Marsabit is the second largest county in Kenya. Its capital is Marsabit and its largest town Moyale. According to the 2019 census, the county has a population of 459,785. It is bordered to the North by Ethiopia, to the West by Turkana County to the South by Samburu County and Isiolo County, and to the East by Wajir County. Geography The county is located in central north Kenya. It borders the eastern shore of Lake Turkana. Important topographical features are: Ol Donyo Ranges () in the southwest, Mount Marsabit () in the central part of the county, Hurri Hills () in the northeastern part of the county, Mount Kulal () in the northwest and the mountains around Sololo-Moyale escarpment (up to ) in the northeast. The Counties of Kenya ( sw, Kaunti za Kenya) are geographical units envisioned by the 2010 Constitution of Kenya as the new units of devolved government that replaced the previous provincial system. Ukur Yatani Kanacho
Ukur Yatani Kanacho is a Kenyan politician and ambassador, and was appointed as Treasury Secretary on 14 January 2020. Yatani served as the First Governor of Marsabit County from 2013 to 2017, was the Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Vienna from 2009 to 2012, and served as the Member of Parliament for North Horr Constituency in 2006. In 2019 he served as the Cabinent Secretary for Labour and Social Protection. In 2020 he was named Cabinent Secretary or the National Treasury. North Horr Constituency is an electoral constituency in Kenya. It is one of four constituencies in Marsabit County. The entire constituency is located within Marsabit County Council area. The constituency was established for the 1988 elections. It is the largest constituency in Kenya on land coverage and hosts the only true desert in Kenya, Chalbi desert.
