Marrabenta Stories
''Marrabenta Stories'' is a 2004 documentary film directed by Karen Boswall. A musical documentary, it covers Marrabenta, the national music of Mozambique. Synopsis Young musicians from Mozambique, who usually play Jazz, Funk and Hip Hop, join a group of old men who are stars of the Marrabenta, the traditional Mozambique folk music. Together they form a band called Mabulu and mix their different music styles. The “Old Glories”, as they are affectionately called by their fans, still live in Maputo and survive, as they have for the last fifty years, by singing songs that describe the sad and funny details of their everyday lives. Karen Boswall
Karen Boswall is an independent film maker, known for documentaries that she made while living and working in Mozambique between 1993 and 2007. She is a part-time lecturer in Visual Anthropology at the University of Kent. Her films cover a range of subjects that include marine conservation, popular music, women & HIV and peace and reconciliation. Career and work Before going to Mozambique, Boswall had her own production company in Britain. She has worked around the world as a sound recordist, producer and director. In Mozambique she produced many radio features for the BBC World Service. In 1999 she returned to directing TV documentaries with ''Living Battles'' (1998) and ''From the Ashes'' (1999), both concerning the recently ended civil war. Mozambique

Marrabenta
Marrabenta is a popular style of Mozambican dance music combining traditional Mozambican dance rhythms with Portuguese folk music. It was developed in Maputo, the capital city of Mozambique, during the 1930s and 1940s. Etymology The name may be derived from the Portuguese word ''rebentar'' (''arrabentar'' in the local vernacular), which means "to break". This may refer to the cheap musical instruments used in this music, which are often played energetically until they fall apart. Vocalist Dilon Djindji claims this refers to the energetic performances he delivered while on tour across Mozambique, as the intensity and vitality of his shows led audiences to believe that he was 'breaking' the emotional limits of those in attendance. The musicians who played Marrabenta came to be called ''arrabenta''. Over time, the name ''Marrabenta'' has grown in popularity and continues to be used today. DocLisboa
Doclisboa is a documentary film festival in Lisbon, Portugal Portugal, officially the Portuguese Republic ( pt, República Portuguesa, links=yes ), is a country whose mainland is located on the Iberian Peninsula of Southwestern Europe, and whose territory also includes the Atlantic archipelagos of ... which held its first edition in 2002. Tarifa
Tarifa (, Arabic: طريفة) is a Spanish municipality in the province of Cádiz, Andalusia. Located at the southernmost end of the Iberian Peninsula, it is primarily known as one of the world's most popular destinations for windsports.
