Marko Putkonen
Marko Putkonen (born 18 October 1947 in Helsinki) is a Finnish opera singer with a bass background. Life and career Putkonen is known as a singer of Hortto Kaalo, fi, :fi:Horto Kaalo who specializes in Roma music. He is one of founding member of band Hortto Kaalo, which was founded in 1969. In the 1980s, he began his career as an opera singer. He studied singing at the Sibelius Academy's Opera School (1982–1984), the Zurich Opera Studio (1984–1985) and the Zurich Academy of Music (1985–1986), and was attached to the Zurich Opera (1985–1986) and the Finnish National Opera (1986–2002). Putkonen's wife is a journalist and theater director Tuovi Putkonen. Hortto Kaalo
Hortto Kaalo is a Finnish gypsy music band performing in both Finnish and Romani. They specialize in Eastern European and French gypsy music. The band's name in Romani means 'real Roma'. The group was formed in 1969 by Feija Åkerlund, Marko Putkonen, Taisto Lundberg, and Heikki Nyman, although Nyman left the group shortly afterwards. Hortto Kaalo has often performed together with the Finnish Romani singer . Hortto Kaalo's debut single, the protest song ''Miksi ovet ei aukene meille?'' ( 'Why doors won't open for us'), came out in 1970, and has been credited for contributing to the illegalization of racial discrimination in Finland. In total, the group released six LPs and four compilations. Their first two albums, ''Hortto Kaalo'' and ''Hai Hortto Kaalot'' (both , 1974) were certified gold. Janus Putkonen
Janus Kostia Putkonen (born 16 January 1974 in Pernå) is a Finnish theater director and journalist. Putkonen was the editor-in-chief of the Verkkomedia website, which was active from 2011–2013. From 2015 to 2018, he was the director of the Russian-backed Donetsk Separatist Information Center Doni-News. Since 2019, he has been the editor-in-chief of MV-media. Putkonen focused Russian funded Doni-news and MV-media to support pro-Russian propaganda about the Donetsk People's Republic.
