Mark Murphy (safety, Born 1955)
Mark Hodge Murphy (born July 13, 1955) is an American football executive and former American football player currently serving as the president and chief executive officer of the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League (NFL). Prior to that, he was the athletic director at Northwestern University and Colgate University. He also played in the NFL as a Safety (American football position), safety for the NFL's Washington Redskins for eight seasons from 1977 to 1984. Early years and education Murphy was born in Fulton, Oswego County, New York, Fulton, New York. He attended Colgate University, where he was also a member of the Theta Chi fraternity and played college football. Before his NFL career ended and while playing for the Redskins he obtained an MBA from American University's Kogod School of Business in 1983. 1982 NFL Season
The 1982 NFL season was the 63rd regular season of the National Football League. A 57-day-long players' strike reduced the 1982 season from a 16-game schedule per team to an abbreviated nine game schedule. Because of the shortened season, the NFL adopted a special 16-team playoff tournament; division standings were ignored for seeding (although each division sent at least two teams, except the NFC West which had only one). Eight teams from each conference were seeded 1–8 based on their regular season records. Two teams qualified for the playoffs despite losing records (the Cleveland Browns and the Detroit Lions). The season ended with Super Bowl XVII when the Washington Redskins defeated the Miami Dolphins 27–17 at the Rose Bowl stadium. David Woodley
David Eugene Woodley (October 25, 1958 – May 4, 2003) was an American football player, a quarterback in the National Football League for the Miami Dolphins (1980–1983), and the Pittsburgh Steelers (1984–1985). He played college football at Louisiana State University. Early years Born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana, Woodley was the fifth of seven children of attorney John Woodley and Hazel (Iles) Woodley.
