Mark William Lewis (born 27 November 1957) is an Australian politician who was a Liberal Party member of the Legislative Council of Western Australia from 2013 to 2017, representing the Mining and Pastoral Region. He was made a minister in the government of Colin Barnett in September 2016. Western Australian Legislative Council
The Western Australian Legislative Council is the upper house of the Parliament of Western Australia, a state of Australia. It is regarded as a house of review for legislation passed by the Legislative Assembly, the lower house. The two Houses of Parliament sit in Parliament House in the state capital, Perth. Effective on 20 May 2005, for the election of members of the Legislative Council, the State was divided into 6 electoral regions by community of interest —3 metropolitan and 3 rural—each electing 6 members to the Legislative Council.. The 2005 changes continued to maintain the previous malapportionment in favour of rural regions. Legislation was passed in 2021 to abolish these regions and increase the size of the council to 37 seats, all of which will be elected by the state-at-large. Minister For Agriculture And Food (Western Australia)
The Minister for Agriculture and Food is a position in the Cabinet of Western Australia. The minister is responsible for the Department of Agriculture and Food, and usually holds several other portfolios. The responsibilities now incorporated in the portfolio were originally held by the Colonial Secretary, and it was not until the 1904 Daglish Ministry that a separate Minister for Agriculture was appointed, with the inaugural minister being the nominally independent John Drew. From its first implementation through to the 1920s, and sporadically afterward, the titles of Minister for Agriculture and Minister for Lands were generally held by the same person, although the positions were legally separate, and were quite different in scope. A similar situation has existed since the late 1970s with the Fisheries and Forests portfolios. Dean Nalder
Dean Cambell Nalder (born 5 February 1966) is an Australian former politician who was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia for the Liberal Party from 2013 to 2021, representing the seat of Alfred Cove until 2017, and Bateman following the 2017 electoral boundary re-distribution. At various times, he served as Minister for Transport, Minister for Finance and Minister for Agriculture and Food in the ministry of Premier Colin Barnett from 2014 to 2016. Following the Liberals' defeat at the 2017 state election, Nalder served in a number of shadow portfolios in the shadow ministries of Mike Nahan and Liza Harvey until resigning from the frontbench on 8 December 2020, following his announcement of retirement from politics at the next election. Norman Moore (politician)
Norman Frederick Moore (born 24 August 1945) is a former Western Australian politician. From 2008 to 2013 he was Minister for Mines and Petroleum; Fisheries; Electoral Affairs and Leader of the Government in the Legislative Council. From 12 to 29 June 2012, he was the Minister for Justice. He held a seat for the Electoral region of Mining and Pastoral and is a member of the Liberal Party. Born in Kalgoorlie, Moore worked as a high school principal before entering the Western Australian Legislative Council in 1977 as a member of the Lower North Province, defeating incumbent Labor member Stan Dellar in that year's state election.
