Mark Kirchner
Mark Kirchner (born 4 April 1970) is a German former biathlete. Life and career Kirchner won gold in the 10 km sprint at the Albertville Olympics in 1992 and followed that up by taking silver in the 20 km individual and gold in the relay. An out-of-the-blue win by Eugeni Redkine of the Unified Team in the 20 km individual prevented him taking honours as the absolute champion of these Games. In 1994 in Lillehammer, he was his country's flag bearer and was part of the gold-medal winning relay team. He was the youngest ever triple Olympic Champion in biathlon, at the age of just 23 years and 10 month. Kirchner came second in the overall World Cup standings twice, behind Sergei Tchepikov of the USSR in the 1990–91 season and behind Mikael Löfgren of Sweden in 1992–93. Holmenkollen National Arena ( no, Holmenkollen nasjonalanlegg) is a Nordic skiing, ski jumping and biathlon venue located at Holmenkollen in Oslo, Norway. It consists of the large ski jumping hill Holmenkollbakken, the normal hill Midtstubakken and a stadium for cross-country skiing and a shooting range for biathlon. The 1989–90 Biathlon World Cup was a multi-race tournament over a season of biathlon, organised by the UIPMB ( Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne et Biathlon). The season started on 14 December 1989 in Obertilliach, Austria, and ended on 18 March 1990 in Kontiolahti, Finland. It was the 13th season of the Biathlon World Cup. Originally, the World Championships were to be held in Minsk. However, due to a lack of snow, only the individual competitions could be held, and the team, sprint and relay races were moved to Holmenkollen. This caused the UIPMB to declare the World Championship races as counting towards the World Cup. On the last day in Holmenkollen, the men's relay was cancelled during the last leg due to fog; it was subsequently moved to Kontiolahti. Frank Ullrich
Frank Ullrich (, ; born 24 January 1958) is a German politician of the SPD and former biathlete and trainer of the German national team. Since 2021, he has been a member of the Bundestag. Career Biathlon was in Ullrich's family as his father was a biathlon referee. His first appearance was in 1967 at the East Germany, GDR Children Championships. In 1972, he placed second over 5 km at the Spartakiad, in 1975 he became Youth World Champion in relay race, relay. He won a bronze medal at the 1976 Winter Olympics with the 4 × 7.5 km relay team. Mikael Löfgren
Mikael Löfgren (born 2 September 1969) is a former Swedish biathlete. He became the Junior World Champion in 1986, aged 17. At the 1992 Olympics in Albertville, France, he won two bronze medals, one in the 4 × 7.5 km relay and one in the 20 km individual. His teammates with the Swedish relay team were Ulf Johansson, Tord Wiksten, and Leif Andersson. Sergei Tchepikov
Sergei Vladimirovich Tchepikov (russian: Серге́й Влади́мирович Че́пиков; born 30 January 1967) is a Russian politician and a former Soviet-Russian biathlete and cross-country skier who competed at six Winter Olympics, five in biathlon (1988, 1992, 1994, 2002 and 2006) and one in cross-country skiing (1998). His last Olympic performance was a silver medal in the 4 × 7.5 km relay at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. Tchepikov has two World Cup titles (1989/90, 1990/91). He has had 25 podium finishes, six in first place, thirteen in second, and has come third six times. In the Olympics, Tchepikov has two gold, three silver, and one bronze medals.
