Marjo S. van der Knaap (born 9 May 1958) is a Dutch professor of pediatric neurology at VU University Amsterdam and the VU University Medical Center. She was a winner of the 2008 Spinoza Prize. Her research focuses on white matter disorders. Early life and education Van der Knaap was born on 9 May 1958 in Delft. In 1984 she obtained a cum laude degree in medicine from Erasmus University Rotterdam. She continued her PhD studies and graduated cum laude in 1991 from Utrecht University's department of pediatric neurology, while also collaborating with the department of neuroradialogy of VU University Amsterdam. Marjo Tuulevi Matikainen-Kallström (born 3 February 1965 in Lohja) is a politician and former Finnish cross-country skier. Politics Matikainen-Kallström represents the National Coalition Party (Kokoomus) in Finland. From 1996 to 2004 she was a Member of the European Parliament, and since 2004 she has been a member of the Finnish Parliament. Athletics She had a very short but winning sporting career. In the six seasons she competed at a top international level, she won the World Cup three years in a row. At the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, Matikainen-Kallström won a bronze medal in the relay aged just 19. Marjo-Riikka Mäkelä (born 7 May 1971) is a Finnish stage and independent film actress, director, acting coach, and the founder of Los Angeles-based acting studio Chekhov Studio International. Much of Mäkelä's mention in Finnish media is associated with Michael Chekhov acting technique. Career In Europe, Mäkelä hosted Finnish television series Kulttuuri Putiikki from 1994 to 1996. Marjo Hippi (born 4 February 1978) is a Finnish curler from Helsinki. She currently plays lead for Oona Kauste. Hippi was born in Nurmo. After beginning curling in 2004, she joined the Tuire Autio rink in 2005 and finished 4th at the Finnish Women's Curling Championship in 2006. The next season she joined the Lare Norri rink as her third and again finished 4th at the Finnish Championship. The rink again finished 4th in 2008. In 2009, the team won their first medal, winning silver. They won a bronze medal at the 2010 Finnish championship. ''Marjoe'' is a 1972 American documentary film produced and directed by Howard Smith and Sarah Kernochan about the life of evangelist Marjoe Gortner. It won the 1972 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. Story Marjoe Gortner was a precocious child preacher with extraordinary talents, who was immensely popular in the American South. His parents earned large sums of money off of his earnings until the point he outgrew the novelty of his youthfulness. Gortner rejoined the ministry as a young adult solely as a means of earning a living, not as a believer. He spent the next several years using his fame and status as an evangelist to earn a living from both tent revivals and televangelism.
