Marise Kruger
Marise Kruger (born 17 July 1958) is a former South African tennis player who was active in the second half of the 1970s. Tennis career Kruger started playing tennis when she was five. She reached the girl's final at the 1976 Wimbledon Championships, won the junior singles title at the 1976 US Open, and won the singles title at the junior Orange Bowl tournament in December 1976. In June 1976, Kruger was runner-up at the Kent Championships in Beckenham, losing in three sets to Olga Morozova. In the preceding weeks, she had won tournament titles in Guildford and Chichester. In August that year, she won the South Orange Open singles title beating Lea Antonoplis. In May 1977, she won the doubles title at the Italian Open, partnering compatriot Brigitte Cuypers, and in August, she was a finalist at Canadian Open in Toronto, losing the final in three sets to Regina Maršíková. Regina Maršíková (born 11 December 1958) is a retired tennis player from Czechoslovakia, present-day Czech Republic. Career Maršíková won the French Junior Championships in 1975. She had career wins over Martina Navratilova, Billie Jean King, Evonne Goolagong, Hana Mandlíková, Tracy Austin, and Virginia Wade. Her best performances in Grand Slam singles events included three consecutive semifinals at the French Open from 1977 to 1979. She won the 1977 French Open women's doubles title with Pam Teeguarden. Maršíková was involved in an automobile accident in September 1981 near Prague, Czechoslovakia that caused a fatality. She lost her drivers license and visa and served several months in detention. Sharon Walsh-Arnold (née Walsh; born February 24, 1952) is a former professional tennis player from the United States. Walsh enjoyed a long career, playing her first Grand Slam singles event in 1969 and her last Grand Slam doubles match in 1990. The 1977 Italian Open was a combined men's and women's tennis tournament that was played by men on outdoor clay courts at the Foro Italico in Rome, Italy. The men's tournament was part of the Colgate-Palmolive Grand Prix circuit while the women's tournament was part of the Colgate Series. The tournament was held from 16 May through 22 May 1977. The singles titles were won by eight-seeded Vitas Gerulaitis and fifth-seeded Janet Newberry who earned $21,000 and $6,000 first-prize money respectively. Bunny Bruning
Anna-Marie "Bunny" Bruning (born September 5, 1957) is an American former professional tennis player. Bruning grew up in California and was active on the WTA Tour during the 1970s and 1980s. She competed in the main draws of all four grand slam tournaments and was runner-up in the All England Plate, Wimbledon Plate in 1976. Now a resident of Adel, Iowa, Bruning has worked in the region as a tennis coach since leaving professional tennis and is currently Tennis Director of the Wakonda Club in Des Moines.
