Mario Borgiotti
Mario Borgiotti (22 August 1906 – 19 December 1977) was an Italian painter and art collector. Biography Mario Borgiotti was born to a working class family and originally studied violin. In the 1920s he met Ulvi Liegi, Gino Romiti, Umberto Vittorini, as well as other members of the Gruppo Labronico and became involved in the trade and collection of works of art. In 1925, Borgiotti organised an exhibition of contemporary art in Pisa which included a large number of Gruppo Labronico painters and in 1927, a combined exhibition of nineteenth-century works and art from Livorno. In 1928, he promoted an exhibition and sale of works by Macchiaioli at the Bottega d'Arte Calligani in Lucca, while in 1930 he organised another collective exhibition of Gruppo Labronico and nineteenth-century Italian paintings in Viareggio. Montecatini Terme is an Italian municipality (''comune'') of c. 20,000 inhabitants in the province of Pistoia, Tuscany, central Italy. It is the most important center in Valdinievole. Renato Natali
Renato Natali (10 May 1883 – 7 March 1979) was an Italian painter, member of the post-Macchiaioli group of painters in Livorno during the first half of the 20th century. He often painted proletarian neighborhoods of the industrial port city of Livorno, as well as genre and cabaret scenes. Biography He was born in Livorno. He did not attend a formal academy, although he was said to have learned from Guglielmo Micheli, and was a member of the Gruppo Labronico of painters that met in the Caffè Bardi in Livorno. He provided some of the decorations for the establishment. He traveled to Paris for two years in 1912, but is said to have ''fallen in love with Livorno while in Paris''. In Paris, he encountered the vibrant bohemian circles of artists, including Amedeo Modigliani, and the works of Toulouse Lautrec. Giovanni Bartolena (24 June 1866 - 16 February 1942) was an Italian painter, mainly of landscapes, but also of landscapes with animals. Biography He was born near Livorno. As a young man, at his family's villa, he indulged in his love of riding horses. His grandfather, Cesare Bartolena, portrait and battle painter, had been his early mentor.
