Mario Boni
Mario Boni (born 30 June 1963 in Codogno, Italy) is an Italian former professional basketball player. Playing as shooting guard or small forward, he had a long career in the Italian leagues, finishing as the top scorer of the top-tier level Serie A, in the 1993–1994 season. He also played club basketball internationally, most notably for Greek side Aris, with whom he won the 1996–97 FIBA Korać Cup. Professional career Early career Boni played in the youth ranks of birth town side Fulgor Codogno before joining Unione Cestistica Piacentina of the fifth division Serie C2 in 1982. The next year he moved to American Eagle Vigevano of the second division Serie A2, they were relegated to the Serie B a year later. Codogno
Codogno (; Lodigiano: ) is a town and ''comune'' of 15,868 inhabitants in the province of Lodi, Lombardy, northern Italy. It is the main center of the plain known as Basso Lodigiano, which has about 90,000 inhabitants. It received the honorary title of city with a presidential decree on June 26, 1955. History There is evidence of a settlement dating back to Roman penetration of Gaul, where it is thought to have been used as a ''castrum''. Serie A2, known for sponsorship reasons as Serie A2 Old Wild West, is a men's basketball league in Italy. It constitutes the second-tier of the Italian league pyramid, below the first division LBA and above the third division Serie B, with promotion/relegation occurring between these leagues. It is run by the Lega Nazionale Pallacanestro (LNP), itself regulated by the FIP, the Italian federation. Names History The league was created in May 1974, by the Lega Basket, the organisation in charge of running the LBA (to this day), that decided to create a new second division with 10 clubs. The Lega Basket Serie A (LBA) is a professional men's club basketball league that has been organised in Italy since 1920. Serie A is organised by Lega Basket, which is regulated by the Italian Basketball Federation (FIP). It is the highest-tier level of the Italian league system.
