Beatriz Marinello
Beatriz Mansilla Marinello (also known as Beatriz MacArthur; born May 14, 1964) is a Chilean-American chess player and chess official. She was a vice president of FIDE from 2010 to 2018. Marinello was previously president of the United States Chess Federation (USCF) from 2003 to 2005 and a member of the executive board from 2003 to 2007. She was elected general secretary of the Association of Chess Professionals in 2019. Marinello started playing chess at the age of 13 and became national women's champion of Chile when she was 16 years old. In 1980, she was awarded the title Woman International Master (WIM) by FIDE. She organized her first national championship in Chile at the age of 20 years, and later organized other international competitions. Marinello arrived in the United States from Chile in 1990, and became a chess teacher in Miami. Juan Marinello Vidaurreta (2 November 1898 – 27 March 1977) was a Cuban Communist intellectual, writer, poet essayist, lawyer and politician. He was one of the most prominent Cuban intellectual figures of the interwar period and post revolutionary Cuba. Biography Marinello was born to a Spanish father and Cuban mother. He went to Spain as a child and studied in Villafranca del Panadés (Catalonia), his father's homeland, until he was sixteen, when the family returned to Cuba. Vince Marinello (1938/1939 – February 21, 2020) was an American longtime sportscaster who was featured on WWL AM/ FM radio and, previously, on WVUE and WDSU in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was later known as a leading media personality, covering aspects of the recovery of the city from the devastation following Hurricane Katrina. Before his arrest for the murder of his third wife, he served as an in-house television host and analyst at the Fair Grounds Race Course from 1990 until 2005. Marinello died in custody at Dixon Correctional Institute on February 21, 2020 of natural causes.
