Most languages of Europe belong to the Indo-European language family. Out of a total European population of 744 million as of 2018, some 94% are native speakers of an Indo-European language. Within Indo-European, the three largest phyla are Romance, Germanic, and Slavic, they have more than 200 million speakers each and together account for close to 90% of Europeans. José Maria Marin (born 6 May 1932) is a Brazilian politician and former sports administrator who was the President of the Brazilian Football Confederation ( pt, Confederação Brasileira de Futebol, ''CBF'') from March 2012 until April 2015. He had previously served as vice-governor and governor of São Paulo state and is a former football player. Marin was arrested as part of the 2015 FIFA corruption case and was subsequently jailed for four years. Early life and football career Marin was born in São Paulo. John Marin (December 23, 1870 – October 2, 1953) was an early American modernist artist. He is known for his abstract landscapes and watercolors. Biography Marin was born in Rutherford, New Jersey. His mother died nine days after his birth, and he was raised by two aunts in Weehawken, New Jersey.. He attended the Stevens Institute of Technology for a year, and tried unsuccessfully to become an architect. From 1899 to 1901, Marin attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia. In Philadelphia he studied with Thomas Pollock Anshutz, Hugh Henry Breckenridge and William Merritt Chase. Kuopio School Stabbing
The Kuopio school stabbing occurred on 1 October 2019 at Savo Vocational College in Kuopio, Northern Savonia, Finland. Armed with a sabre, 25-year-old student Joel Otto Aukusti Marin killed a female student and wounded nine others. He also carried an air pistol which was not used during the attack; it was initially mistaken for a real firearm. The attack ended when a policeman shot and wounded Marin. Attack The attack began in a classroom at Savo Vocational College, located in the premises of the Herman shopping mall. Students in the classroom described how Marin arrived to class with a "long bag", took out a longsword and began stabbing people. Police were alerted at 12:29. Ion Marin
Ion Marin (born 8 July 1960) is a Romanian-Austrian conductor. He is internationally renowned both in operatic and symphonic domains. Early life Born in Bucharest, son of choir conductor Constantin Marin, founder of the Madrigal Choir, Ion Marin started studying piano and violin at the age of three. He graduated the George Enescu Music College in 1979. In 1983 he graduated in composition at the National Music Academy of Bucharest, where he studied with Tiberiu Olah and Anatol Vieru. His education was completed at the Salzburg Mozarteum with Carlo Zecchi and the Accademia Chigiana in Siena with Franco Ferrara. Following his debut in 1981, he was appointed chief conductor of the Arad Philharmonic (Transylvania). Guadalupe "Lupe" Marín (October 16, 1895 – September 16, 1983), born María Guadalupe Marín Preciado, was a Mexican model and novelist. Biography Marín was born in Ciudad Guzmán, Jalisco, Mexico. Gilberte Céline Marin-Moskovitz (; 22 June 1937 – 26 June 2019) was a French Socialist Party politician who served as deputy of Territoire de Belfort's 2nd constituency in the National Assembly from 1988 to 1991 and again from 1997 to 2000. Gheorghe Gaston Marin (April 14, 1918, Chișineu-Criș – February 25, 2010, Bucharest) was a Romanian communist politician who had many roles under Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej and Nicolae Ceaușescu. He was born Gheorghe Grossmann in Pădureni, Arad County. In the 1980s, he emigrated to Israel, but later returned to Bucharest, where he died. He was born into a wealthy Jewish family in northern Transylvania. In his youth, he was a member of Poalei Zion. In 1936, he moved to Paris to study mathematics and physics at the Sorbonne.
